Sorry for the repost as the Sotong me finally know how to upload the video..... [sweatdrop]

Hi Fellow bro and sis(if any),

I'm a newbie to this in car video recorder and have recently bought my very first Itronics ITB 100HD from bro Xavier. Just wanted to clear some doubts and learn from the seniors in this forum to make full use of my new gadget. At the same time to manage my expectations as well as I have not been exposed to any other car recorder and thus will not be able to determine if the end results are the "norm". Please bear with me if my enquries are elementary: Here goes:

Night Video

1) Is the quality of my night recording considered good? I noticed that certain bright lights like the street lamps/traffic lights etc tend to have a halo effect. Is that normal? Can anything be done to improve on it? I have tried the brightness and contrast functions and also switch on the night vision mode in the player but to no avail...

2 Same video around the 30 sec timing. As I approached the white car, I realise that I can't see its license plate at all. His license plate too reflective? My lights too glaring? I'm using normal stock light bulbs for my headlamp. Is this normal as well? If this is normal, then how do I ensure that I can capture its license plate if I really wanted to? Dim down my headlights?

Day Video

1) Day videos definitely are much better and clearer. Another thing that I notice is that sometimes the lights from the traffic light flicker as shown in the video. Why is it so and any means to avoid it? And in this video, guess the reason I cant see the license plate of the car in front is because of the sun glare from the back? Just to check with the more experience bro here, normally to ensure that recording of crucial information is being captured, what will you do? Will you drive to the sides as well as follow behind for a while in order to eliminate/reduce tha chances of non capture of crucial information like licence plate?

Hope to receive valuable advices from the fellow forumers here. Given what had just transpired over the past few days, please do not flame me and I do not harbour any other intentions except to clarify and learn from the seniors here. Many thanks in adv!

Cheers!

so it's also better to remove the battery from the DVR as well? When ignition is turned on, the DVR taps power from the car anyway.

I park under hot sun very often especially if the sheltered lots at my often are taken up.

By right, should avoid having the lipo battery under extreme hot temperatures. The battery in the dvr helps maintain the correct settings in the dvr.

Those Nokia type enclosed li-ion batt should be fine. But there are many cases of it bloated. Just keep a lookout.

Aside to bro Adrian: Did you get a chance to measure the power draw for finevue?

It was ard 3watts if I can remember correctly.

In all photography and videos, lighting is Everything!

so lots of the image capture also depends on your luck - shadows, reflections, glare

perhaps you need an assistant driving next to you with the white reflector you see during wedding shoots [laugh]

besides that , nothing much you can do

don't worry, if you need to , you can send the footage to CSI labs in LA, Miami or New York. they press a few buttons, even the passenger underwear color also can see

Hey Aventador bro,

thks for replying to my enquries ^_^

So my recordings are normal right? and not because I missed out on some much needed settings adjustments etc..

Like I mentioned earlier, first time user so have to manage my expectations in order to know what is the norm. Understand that bro Xavier is out of town today, perhaps he can share his input when he's back.

By the way, I prefer pressing a few buttons and see passengers naked without underwear. [;)]

Have a good evening, cheers!

Folks,

I bought the Itronics Car Cam from Xavier 2 weeks ago and would like to post my experience about this car cam with everybody.

I believe this video should solve most of our queries about if this car cam can survive the heat issues.

I have own the BlackVue and FineVue and i am really impressed by this Itronics.

In terms of clarity in day and night, my vote will go for BlackVue.

Guess till now, Itronics will defintely by my choice.

The only setback that for this Itronics is that there is no prominent indicators if the car cam is running except for 1 small red light and i mean real small.

But with the heat stress that i have done, my confi for this cam is higher now.

Thanks Xavier...

I just sent this mail to iTronics :)

Dear iTronics staff,

I would like to make, what I feel is an important suggestion and feature to be implemented into your next firmware upgrade for the ITB100HD. It's the ability to lock a certain segment of recorded footage so it cannot be recorded over. Also the ability to have an "emergency" button so it's possible to record footage being observed from the windscreen, not necessarily involving you, for example, a cyclist getting hit by another car.

At the moment, if the ITB100HD was to capture such an event, or if it was to capture an event where the driver of the car was knocked unconscious, either event, when very important, could easily be recorded over if the camera is left running.

I am a previous user of the X-Driven DRS1100, this is another car blackbox and instead of working with an overwrite by time/file type system, it simply locked certain segments (if there was a heavy shock or G-force or if the driver pressed the emergency button). These files could not be recorded over in the continuous looping of footage and the only way to free up space taken by these files, was by deleting them from the computer. This made it much more reliable to save important files and not lose vital footage of what could be a serious incident. Once the SD card is connected to the computer, the files can be backed up and deleted off the SD card leaving more space to be used for general looping footage.

I feel it's very important to have the files locked and not be overwritten and perhaps an emergency button could be created, say by pressing the "mic" button quickly twice or something similar.

I'm hoping this is something can can be implemented soon as I was already involved in a collision and the data was overwritten unfortunately.

Pleas let me know if this is possible and if it's likely to be implemented any time soon?

Regards,

For your day video, your cam is tilted lower and exposing more black at the bottom. The cam will try to balance up the EV for this thus the brighter areas become more wash out. Dynamic range of cams are limited. Try to expose more outside area and see if theres improvements

Supersonic

i happen to chance upon this

portable battery

for those who don't want to connect their cam to the car's battery, is this workable, anyone tried before?

i am concerned with the rated power.. heard many china products have overrated their stuff. any way to test it?

Go Sim Lim Tower basement and buy a SLA battery, around $50.

The most practical way is still to remove your sd card when u meet with an accident.

Most of the latest korea brand like finevu, otosaver, blackvue, itronics do not have that lock function anymore.

You should set to file deletion by type, & set more % for event recording & least sensitive for impact sensor during driving.

Thats my suggestion for all my customers.

The cam will overexposed the sun to make sure the surrounding are exposed properly. However, there's always limitation. If you are driving into the sun in the evening, very difficult for the cam to produce balance exposure as I mentioned earlier, cam dynamic range is limited.

Hi bro,

Am back to SG, let me help answer your queries.

Can anything be done to improve on it? I have tried the brightness and contrast functions and also switch on the night vision mode in the player but to no avail...

Its normal, that "halo" effect or flickering of traffic lights is normal across all brand of car dvr, in fact, even if we look at the street lamps with our naked eyes, u will also be able to see the same effect. You can take a look at all my night samples with other car dvr, u will know its normal :)

2 Same video around the 30 sec timing. As I approached the white car, I realise that I can't see its license plate at all. His license plate too reflective? My lights too glaring? Like what Aventador bro mentioned earlier in the post, if you played with videography or photography, lighting is Everything! Will also be affected by the angle, reflection & distance especially at night.

Go Sim Lim Tower basement and buy a SLA battery, around $50.

Used to have 2 of this in my boot for powering of car cam but removed them due to

1) Too heavy and affecting FC

2) The distance travelled is too short per day to effectively charge them full enough for 4 cams

3) Hassle to carry both home everyday to charge from wall plug
