S-gt Neutral Newbie June 12, 2010 Share June 12, 2010 you can look for 2nd h type and yes alignment needed else all sort of things will happen and in the end fork out more.

Celicar Turbocharged June 12, 2010 Share June 12, 2010 The spring is made of a certain material and length after taking into account its intended travel (or extent of compression). Cutting will compromise its integrity. In simple terms (and taking it to the extreme so that it is obvious), imagine cutting it to 1/10 of its original length. You think it will still work? Ahdang Neutral Newbie June 12, 2010 Share June 12, 2010 bro, go for option 2 if you have to, wheel alignment is needed if you do not want your tires to wear unevenly which in the end might cost you more problems.. option 1 is a definite nono as you will damage your stock absorber very fast, in the end you will have to pay more just to replace that part. but note that lower springs can lower only a limited amount, my sx4 after changing to lowering springs still gives me 4-5 finger spaces. In the end i opted to change to coilovers as i find that only that can give me the height i want. All in all, if you are really on a budget and want the lowered look(2 finger spacing and below) i suggest you save up more to change to a coilover later, if not you will just waste money on something which you will not be satisfied in the end. Just my 0.02 cents
Yuan 6th Gear June 13, 2010 Share June 13, 2010 how come not advisable to cut stock spring? It will affect the functionality of the spring of which it is originally designed for. In the end, your suspension will be compromised and the car becomes not very safe to drive. Go for lowered springs like Apex. Heard they are not bad. Circuit Clutched June 13, 2010 Share June 13, 2010 (edited) option one, your suspension is 1st one to suffer, follow by uneven wear and tear , ur shaft and bearing will ganna too. then ride quality is even worst. ended ur pocket burn big time, may even accumnlate to 1k , might as well change the whole thing. not to even start mention, if the spring become unbalance, safety problem comes in. unbalance grip and damping, result in skidding, etc (for looks, then safety compromised? wait buang tree how?) unless u tell me u lower liao corner no speed (which is almost impossible) unless u tell me u ah pek, wont speed, then in first place ah pek wont bother to lower liao :P (no offence) option 2, more advisable, alightment is needed , else u get one side tire wear , change tire faster. and shocks will reduce life span at least 20%. faster to change. more bumpy ride, but better cornering. ------------------------------------------------- my advise, go nissan or latio club look for 2nd hand spring or dun change at all. since u on budget. unless u wan looks than pocket burnt. Mandan Neutral Newbie June 13, 2010 Share June 13, 2010 er...i heard that if u juz change lowering springs onli...the stock shock absorbers will nt take it in the long run...izzit correct to say tat? Yes..preferable to change to aftermarket absorber to counter, but then again, by doing so the price id not far from getting a coilover, u might as well save up and go for coilover..Comfort level and dampening is worlds apart from using springs.. Jpn coilover usually 1.8k above . Taiwan coilover as low as 1.2k. Shock and spring combo better branding usually less than 1.1k. Mine B8 with Eibach combo below 1.1k range. Versatile 1st Gear June 14, 2010 Share June 14, 2010 Go for coilover, do NOT cut your original spring. If not, go for performance spring that is suitable for Latio.

Pls advice. never cut the spring if you treasure your life(serious) If you're after improve handling and cornering capabilities , I'll recommend you use Bilstein B6 with your stock springs . However if you want hard core stuffs , bilstein B8 with Eibach sportline(red color) .
