Tigerwoods Turbocharged July 1, 2010 Share July 1, 2010 5) If got accidents between two or more GPS installed car, no need to argue who right or wrong...playback the cars initial location and final position w their location and speed....no argument anymore....can reduce insurance premium I hope....no more dishonest drivers... This one I think cannot as the GPS accuracy is with a few metres from your actual position. Who knock who or who is at fault they cannot judge. Unless they have the EYE IN THE SKY.... Osiris 1st Gear July 1, 2010 Share July 1, 2010 haha....I think many of us still living in the era of low quality GPS device.....the one up there in orbiting in space is really quite good....it is the s/w and interface device that is installed in our car that is the limiting factor....of course the one up there also got limitation....but u will be amazed at how precise it can be.... will higher resolution device/interface w better s/w, we can even have pin-point precision... as for privacy....>>Privacy isn't about having bad intent. If you don't value privacy, why not install cam in your house to make sure you must have sex after oral sex. You didn't break the law, does that mean you must surrender your privacy? ....Are u sure u r a moderator with this type of posting as your argument?? Here we are talking about car tracking...what are u thinking abt??? 4) Hackers!!!! Hack what? .....tsk tsk....the satelite up there is operated by s/w as well....so are all the relay stations...go n figure where the hackers come in... http://www8.garmin.com/aboutGPS/ 3M accuracy with WAAS. maybe some GPS siao members can confirm civilian used GPS accuracy vs military. Note also signal errors due to built up area. This will affect dense concrete jungle of singapore I am replying to your posting about car tracking. car tracking is an invasion of privacy. Granted Singaporeans may not be concern or are aware/educated of privacy implication. We just accept lesser and lesser privacy. Elsewhere that might cause a big hooha. But what is wrong with my example? It is not obscene. It was widely discussed about when SG reviewed the law. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/3372147.stm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Section_377A_...%28Singapore%29 Yes, it maybe a tad extreme to bring home the point of your argument. Which I reiterate. Your point: Do No wrong, it's okay to sacrifice privacy. which I respectfully disagree. (whether I can do something about it is totally different, in singapore its like egg vs wall) If you sacrifice this privacy, what's next? Where do we draw the line? That was my intent. AFAIK, hard to hack sat up there. It's more about the signal down here http://www.futurecrimes.com/space-geospati...iminal-payoffs/ anyway back to the topic http://www.wordinfo.info/words/index/info/view_unit/3937 The built environment in London creates significant challenges for monitoring road usage by satellite

Sabretan 4th Gear July 1, 2010 Share July 1, 2010 Nice....now this a better quality reply that I would expect from the moderator.....Kudos to you. But your eg on the sex n oral sex part still has no relevance here, as we are talking about tracking the location of your car n not what u do at home or some other hotel.. There is nothing wrong w ur example juz that it has no relevance here....We are talking about tracking the location of the car, not what u do inside the building. .as a matter of fact, in US all car rentals (newer ones) come with GPS system installed for security purposes... Ah.....the WWW knowledge base.....I am not discrediting the websites that you have posted...but do bear in mind that a lot of information out there is like hearsy in the Wild Wild West...latest n most recent developments are never available out there until 1 or 2 gen later....of course the most obvious reason would be commercial purposes....Always quote from reliable or accredited websites...even then there are cases where even such websites have misquoted or misrepresented information.... cheers,
Nicktan1982 Neutral Newbie July 1, 2010 Share July 1, 2010 Wif gps thingy, If the wife wan to charge her hubby for adultery, she can request the data frm lta? To c if he did go geylang or mistress hse? Haha
Sabretan 4th Gear July 1, 2010 Share July 1, 2010 But the hubby can argue...I lend my car to XXX or YYY...coz the system can only confirm the car has been there, but not who is in the car or who is driving.....furthermore, I think the Gabrament wld limit that information.....juz like u cannot go to the ICA and ask information for any person right? but it is indeed interesting.....yes, we can use it to possibly reduce the time to solve certain crimes... Atonchia Supersonic July 1, 2010 Share July 1, 2010 (edited) All GPS satellites belong to the United States. Which country would want to rely another country technology for their own tax purpose? But with the implementation of using GPS there is a possibility of using autodriver system like autopilot for airplane navigation in future. US will be like a big brother and if switch off the system. World Domination Still the Russian has the GLONASS, if it's ever implemented it should have a fail safe system that can utilise both system or even another system run by EU or UN. It's a lot of revenue loss if the system get glitches like those from SMRT. Edited July 1, 2010 by Atonchia
Darthrevan Supercharged July 1, 2010 Share July 1, 2010 Maybe when the satellite system is up, the additional thing you cannot do is go ulu ulu place do hanky panky stuffs. Satellite may be able to take picture of your wiener hahahah..... The satellite is manned by humans, so it can zoom in on specific targets. Have to take public transport to do hanky panky!
