Stock is best

anyone agree with me ? - i am talking about normal mods like vs, air filter and ecu etc

Through the years i have tried this mod and that mod.

yes there are performance improvements but on a cost to benefit ratio, its not worth it. 2k-3k to get 10 bhp more ? for 5k one could already get a slightly better car model

one mech i spoke with said stock is best in terms of maintenance and etc

i think he is right, the factory engineers have already figured out the best combination for the car.

any thoughts or am i truly wrong.

Well, if go money, just go ahead and mod all you want. If no money, then stay stock lor....

Got more money, just buy a better car, no need to mod [laugh] .

Turbocharged

but alot suffer from the need for instant gratification and thus cannot wait to save more money before getting a better car.

thus end up in the cycle of getting a less than ideal car and modding the hell out of it gradually, spending about the same amt in total as getting a better car.

But I guess to some, the fun is in the modding, not the actual car itself

power is like money - never enuf. Even if you get a GTR, there are still a whole host of mod options [cool]

Ya fully agreed bro... In Singapore, more people are doing 1,000 HP set-ups, i'm planning to get mine done by this year. Twin turbo customization + advanced engine/fuel management (F-Con V-Pro), upgraded internals, upgraded SSP clutch pack with seals and pistons AND heavy duty 6 gear upgrades from PPG. Not to forget carbon fibre bonnet, air vent, GT wings, boot, console, bodykit etc.etc.

In Russia, they did some serious s*** to their GTR, there's a Russian video of their Russian GTR pulling ahead of the Bugatti whilst in 3rd or 4th gear... I presume it's a 1000HP set-up before the nitrous kicks in, probably completely carbon fibre, and i suspect there's a uranium power cell somewhere inside.

So seriously the sky's the limit... One could put Chernobylian or NASA technology into any car if one seriously wanted.

I have no doubts with reputable tuners. They tune cars with the correct equipment and parts.

The funny thing in Singapore is drivers think by putting in bits and pieces of branded parts and some recommendations by the so called mechanics who themselves have no knowledge in engineering, their car is better.

if thats the case, pls keep it stock.

Also very true. [;)]

Yes, we are not car designers or engineers. Even if one is an expert, he still lack the facilities.

I have given up on heavy improvement to my car.

I have asked many engineers (mechanical, chemical, process, electrical..) They seemed to have same reply. Buy the car you want. Drive the car you bought. If you want power- buy sports car. They are against aftermarket modifications.

I am also against after market modifications.

I also hunger for turbo in my engine. But will not install it. Reason: Illegal, Complication, No workshop capable to do it, or willing to do it, and no space in engine compartment. I'll just put in my next car shopping check list.

Spending $$$ thousands for the little gain or gain is not worth.

==============

Now for me my car is just used for a Point A to Point B transport & convenience to carry stuff.

My 1.6 lit has more than enough power for daily drives & the handling is very sufficient too.

What I look for is economy & reliability most of all. Comfort & space too.

The "biggest" mod I have now is upgrade from 14" steel rims to 16" sports rims with low profile tires to have acceptable level of handling but I do find the noise a little irritating sometimes.

Maybe next tire change I go with PP2 or PS3 & see how (currently on A Drive R1). Cost more but my tires last a damm long time.

if scratch, heart pain....

============

I bought my rims 2nd hand & it already had some scratches so I got it quite cheap.

I doubt many pple wil look so close & "inspect" my rims for scratches so I just dont bother. Main thing is they do a decent job & r problem free.

Hi bro, you serious? Why need so much power? Bragging rights? At the end of the day, its still a GT-R, be it good or bad.

I can understand mod a little like change carbon bonnet, some tune & bolt on, but 1000hp. How to drive on the road?

Before I got my current car, I was setting target as well, 400hp on wheels (not as aggressive as you even so), so can rival M3 or keep up with Ferrari & what so, but in the end, I end up with very conservative figure (didn't even pass 300hp on wheels), but I am happy, still pretty fast & reliable. At the end of the day, I prefer the car for what it is. When I saw nice rides, I just learn to appreciate them instead of trying to have a go.

By the way, I saw on dry carbon front bumper for GT-R, so I kapoh & ask, & its going for $6K, & sold! I heard even the carbon scoop opening piece is going like 1.5k a pair! Damn expensive if you ask me. You guys driving GT-R must have deep pocket .

Anyway, meet up still on right. Can fetch a ride in your GODZILLA [:p]

I will remember to bring my helmet (no race car helmet lah, SAF one can?), & wear my dampers (just ion case I s--t in my pants). [drivingcar]

I agree, 1.6 liter is more than sufficient for manual, maybe 1.8 for auto for our road. Good choice of mod too. Thats the first thing I did too with my last ride. But then again, I was on those Wheels covers.

No self respect car lover should be caught dead with a car still running with wheel covers.

I believe a 1,000hp GTR can still be very "drivable." [cool]

With what you have you target to rival an M3 mah, but if starting with a GTR, the target would be different as well [;)]
