Neutral Newbie

Been driving my new Optima K5 2.0 2014 make for about 2 weeks now.

It's been quite a smooth and nice ride so far and quite happy with the features of the car.

Here are some questions I have that I hope someone here might know:

- How do I set the car to always start in 'Sport' mode? 'Eco' mode remains after I turn off the engine but not Sport mode.

- Possible to turn off the day LED lights?

- Possible to increase the height of the passenger seat? It is currently a bit on a low side and needs a bit more energy to get off the car.

Thanks in advance!

The day light LED cannot turn OFF.

If you have a six way control seat, you should be able the raise the seat. Use The horizontal control, pull up the outer end of the horizontal control to raise front portion (your knee area), and pull up the inner end to raise the inner portion (you butt area).

Let me test my sport mode control and get back later.

BTW, mine is 2.4L, might be difference.

Thought I saw a disable DRL option in the driver instruments screen. Maybe I am thinking of a different car.

For Sport mode, maybe you can just pull gearstick all the way to S? Haha.

If it's electric, when you pull upwards on the seat-base control it should rise accordingly if the car has height adjustment.

I agree, the first time I got in a K5 it was much lower feeling that I thought. Feels almost like sportscar low.

I tested my K5. After restart, my transmission mode will return to NORMAL mode from SPORT mode. May be the service center can change the default setting.

Just check with sales..it will be brought in next year.. Heard that they will bring in the turbo version

1.6 or 2litre turbo?

2litre turbo...

That's great news. The sporty look should pair with a sporty engine. 274bhp. Almost Evo and STI output though probably not as tracky as the mentioned.

Ah no Hyundai group is using turbo-ing the 2L Nu engine instead.

The Nu engine makes 250hp and 360NM of torque. Yes figures are down as compared to the old Theta II GDI Turbo

But the Nu series offers better fuel economy and overall refinement. And can meet Euro 6 natively. The old Theta II already struggles with Euro 5...

If the rumor is true, then I will continue with my Cheebic till next year. And hopefully COE will drop even more then

so now Kia pricelists don't state K5 prices anymore....so when will the new K5 come?

C N C can't sell u any new Optima when the Hyundai production line had stopped production of the current gen Optima.

6mths or more without a full size sedan to sell is pretty bad for C&C I'd say...

if its really a turbo 2.0 coming....I'd wait for it... horsepower isn't as important as torque on this car...

I don't think it's a big loss to them, it's not like they were selling a lot of private consumer Optimas ever since they got struck with the cab curse.

Thanks for testing on your car.

Will check if it is possible to change the default mode through the service centre.

However I do know that the 2.4l version has slightly more features than the 2.0l version.

1 year ago, 2.4l and 2.0l did have some features different. 3 months ago, not much different.

Now, can't find 2.4l K5 in the price list.

Page 5-39 of K5 user manual say the drive mode will go back to NORMAL mode after restart.

I see, either way, its not alot of difference if tune properly, it may even be a better drive. But the new design looks abit to futuristic to my taste.

The Optima is ready for Europe markets .. which means it will be ready for us. Since UK will get it, we may very well get the UK version considering UK is the only RHD market in Europe.

The current 1.7L CRDi as used in Premier Taxi Optima will continue to be offered in this new Optima.

The Hybrid version will be available soon too
