Spring Moderator January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 Every time I open up the MCF page, this pop up advert on the Kia K5 appears which is kind of irritating but I guess it's living up to the thread title of "Aggressive Kia Optima K5 offer" lol! ↡ Advertisement
Runforyourlife 5th Gear January 25, 2016 Share January 25, 2016 After having experience bring my kids to the motor show 2016, I think it is not a good idea to bring them along to show room.because with them around, i cannot concentrate on test drive and talk to the SE. Actually interested to buy 2.0L car but not limited to KiA k5 only. Actually I have shortlisted KIA K5, Hyundai Sonata and Hyundai Tucson. May I know how is the cabin noise? Is it noisy? Sonata should have the least cabin noise. Can skip mz6 too if that's a main consideration.

Daniu82 Supercharged January 27, 2016 Share January 27, 2016 OMV is $24k as told by SE at the SG Motorshow. Too high in my opinion. Mazda 6 basic model and Hyundai Sonata are both less than 20k...

Mazda 6 basic model and Hyundai Sonata are both less than 20k... actually OMV $24K is ok because the previous generation OMV also around 22K-23K. I think it is due to Singapore dollar has weakening. But I think this is the new model and C&C are selling quite high price. Compare to previous generation on August 2015, selling price is $125K with OMV 23K and COE 61K but for this current generation C&C sell $121K with OMV 24K and COE 50K. Cheefarn 5th Gear January 27, 2016 Share January 27, 2016 The new Optima Nu 2L NA engine is way too weak for this car already. Our Optima looked much faster than it can actually go. Once again, we pay the highest car prices in the world, yet we got the lowest possible engine options... The base NA 2L we have is strictly for rental cars in Korea and other parts of the world. Where is the proper 250hp 2L Nu GDI Turbo engine?!

All of the factory purchase from china my company purchases are transacted with usd.
Forte3737 5th Gear January 27, 2016 Share January 27, 2016 Nope. If can sell, they will bring it in already. They know the market conditions best. Jasbert 1st Gear January 27, 2016 Share January 27, 2016 Korean Won is a controlled currency, it can only be used in Korea. This is unlike Japanese Yen which is freely available and exchangable globally.

At this price point, some of the cars like Mondeo 2.0 Ecoboost turbo very hard to sell already. For a Korean car i think even harder, that's why they dont bother

For a Korean car i think even harder, that's why they dont bother Its a cause n effect scenario. We as a customer, when we think about the whizzy engine struggling to move the car along... and got really poor fuel economy as a result, and got overtaken by many premium car drivers who thought your new Optima is part of their league... We will surely ignore the Optima and C n C lost another sale opportunity again. Fords can't sell in SG becos of lousy dealership, and the cars excessively overpriced, esp we got bare bones models .... U can't even get factory fitted GPS screen in the Mondeo, You have to buy aftermarket OEM kits from Taobao and find your own way to install and then install your favorite GPS software inside. Complete nonsense considering you have paid so much for the car. And of cos, Ford abysmal overall reliability did no favors to its brand also. That why Toyota still able to sell like hot cakes even their car only has basic features. If KIA sell at high price with their turbo engine, I think the mass market still won't consider KIA. teomingern Supercharged January 28, 2016 Share January 28, 2016 (edited) Its a cause n effect scenario. It's people like you that create the problem isn't it... you diss the car cos it's Korean. In reality, the engine is fine. It's powerful enough. How fast do you want to do? Your fuel consumption is poor cos you're heavy footed. The car is overall very good value and is certainly up there in every aspect to compare. If it were otherwise, Hyundai and Kia would not be the fastest growing car companies globally. So it's not good enough cos of the brand, and not based on substance. Even if BMW produces crap, it will be good cos it's BMW. Up to today, BMW engines consume engine oil... even when new... it's unheard of these days with any Japanese or Korean engine. But people still think that BMW engines are the best. Perhaps it's all the website and magazines that praise BMW lavishly... for me, it's just over-priced advertisement. And it's just one way of making a car (aka sporty drive). I am not sure if you know what you are talking about but Fords have always been known to be reliable. Not like the Japanese reliability but definitely not abysmal. In addition, while the Ford Mondeo is pricey, you have to remember that you are getting a lot of car for the price - the new EcoBoost 1.5 is loaded with a lot features, which are stripped out from the Sonata. The Sonata also doesn't come with a GPS, not sure about the Optima. Part of that reason is to keep the OMV down so that you don't pay the extra taxes. The Mondeo's OMV is about $25,000. It's made in Spain. The Sonata's OMV is just below $20,000 hence you don't get so many features. The Optima's OMV is about $23,000 and that explains why it's still $121,000 cos it's loaded to the gills with feature. The previous model when I took a test drive was fully loaded with features, it had everything except an electronic parking brake, and at $125,999 at the COE of about $60,000, it was a steal! The SgCarMart feature list for the Sonata is not accurate. But it's accurate for the Mondeo. I don't know for this new Optima until I take a test drive on the weekend.
