WTF 4th Gear August 19, 2010 Share August 19, 2010 It is an offence to leave the car engine on while park. see offence notice attach. Many years ago they have already informed all tour buses that they must switch off their engines while waiting for the tourists to be back..... Seaweed 1st Gear August 20, 2010 Share August 20, 2010 it is definitely good to protect the environment...but somehow maybe not be very practical...why?? imagine you are waiting at the roadside for your passenger under the hot afternoon sun...can we take the heat by shutting down the engine with windows roll down...then imagine if there is a waiting room with aircon...we run in and on the aircon....isn't it killing the environment as well?? Then if we turn off the engine...off the aircon....the whole car gets hot within the next 10 mins of wait....isn't the air condition going to need work harder to cool the car down?? So we are using more energy as well?? The engine is on to keep the aircondition going then I think there is no choice...but if we live in a cold country and yet we keep the engine running then probably it is not so right....but then if it is for the heater...then no choice as well.....if we are not enjoying the air condition in the car....we are enjoying it else where....isn't it back to square one ??? Greatbirdlegend 1st Gear August 20, 2010 Share August 20, 2010 Wow seriously did not know. I do this all the time when waiting for a few minutes for wife or friends. Thanks for the public service. I did not know that they enforce this so strictly since you can easily find stationary vehicles with engines on while waiting for people everywhere. It's like the seat belt rules. Guess I just have to avoid Yishun estate from now on.

Unless you park at roadside due to traffic conditions.
Kxbc Turbocharged August 20, 2010 Share August 20, 2010 6 min also cannot? Actually, how would they know if your engine is shut down or not if you are observed from a distance?
Tom_kkh 1st Gear August 20, 2010 Share August 20, 2010 6 min also cannot? Actually, how would they know if your engine is shut down or not if you are observed from a distance? if u r sitting in the car while waiting, 97% yr engine is on. no one will sit inside a car, especially under the hot sun without turning on air con.
