Xers007 Supercharged August 26, 2010 Share August 26, 2010 although I am disgusted by these pictures, let's remember that the pinoys there are brought up under a very different environment, very different values, different education and a very different economic background compared to us. Things that we comprehend may not be things that they comprehend. Just few days ago, I was telling my Thai colleague that his thai people are crazy because they seem to like riot and demonstration so much. Didn't they know that riots can cause a problem to the economy and the country? He looked at me and told me that's normal. He said it is actually Sporeans that are crazy because we all seemed to be "programmed" to obey everything and listen to everything. He thinks that riot is actually a healthy thing! That really tells me that what we think that is logically correct may not be deem so by people of other countries. So while we all here are thinking how disgusting these photos are, the pinoys back in Philipines may be wondering what is actually wrong with that! you and your upbringing story again... even dogs know how to show sadness when their peer passed away... but not this bunch of barbarians... these ppl are one of the most religious and they show no sign of shame in them posing in front of a tragedy... ↡ Advertisement

To be fair, there are good ones. I know of this Filipino expat...with green card and his work history are all top MNCS in the world. He's one solid guy and he too smiles a lot even when under pressure. I must say I learn alot from this guy...not just pertaining to work but also how to handle tough situations. I once ask him...why do Filipino smile so much (I used to travel to Manila for biz trip). He gave me a poignant smile and said this to me..."well....life is hard...when a person has nothing going for him, nothing much to his name, all he has left is his smile so thats why we smile alot and irregardless of how bad things are, we do not let people take this away from us even"
Summer69 Clutched August 26, 2010 Share August 26, 2010 How you judge they are more gilat than us?......those terroists are still Pinoy...so the lousy vs the lousy....enough said they use live rounds & have real enemy aka terrorist. they are more "battle" experience, i guess. imagine recce in those islands with live ammo, weapon in safe mode. jungle warfare is tough like USA Vs viet cong in vietnam war try sending our boys (regulars) to southern pinoy, recce side by side. Icedbs Turbocharged August 26, 2010 Share August 26, 2010 Although I can understand they have different cultures and values, I believe some are universal, like respect for the dead. Especially if its a violent death of guests due to the screw up of your fellow country men. trust me, not all of them do. I travelled to 3rd world countries every month due to business, and while some has the same level of understanding like us (usually those more educated ones or studied overseas before), most have a totally different logic compared to us. Especially for those countries where killing, riot, fighting is common and rampant. Seeing death on the street is just as common as seeing traffic lights on our roads here. Yes, respect for dead is truly universal, but perhaps some of them feel that a photo of such a "world wide event" is more valuable (or maybe can be sold for $$$ in ebay) and hence all these photo taking stuff. This is why it is so hard to do business in 3rd world countries and you need to get the connections right. Most of them has a warp mind and bizzaire behaviour but only through our eyes. To them it is normal.

To them it is normal. To some extent, I agree with you. But then, the Philippines, though a developing country, is not that backward. It is prosperous in some ways (last trip there last Nov). And the incident happened in Manila, the country's capital, where most of the educated are. So, I can't comprehend their behavior at all.
