Below average singaporean pay???

yesterday just saw a report on expat salary

more than 45% of the expat earn more than 260k sgd a year

Which area of engineering are you in? I know of some fresh grads in electrical engineering can hit >50K starting.

Bro, as the saying goes "the grass is always greener on the other side". No need to envy lah 'cos there's some industries even worst. With a MSc coming in soon, you'll have more routes to riches in future.

 

One of my friend who has been with the company involved in construction for almost 13 yrs had only 3-4 increments throughout those years.

 

Btw, I'm also one of those who kena conned last time. I'm also in the Engineering industry.

And the best part in my company is that, no one ever work OT, haha, all 6pm disappear liao, once i work until 6.15pm and no one is in office liao. And i got to call my boss back to lock office, haha, cause nv draw office key frm HR

When I was 30 I earned less than you. So I dont think you are doing badly. Engineers who do well are those who are in management. Those in construction would have done well last few years but eventually construction will slow down & they may experience pay reduction or even no pay.

 

Those who say they are earning more may be quite a bit older than you or bsing.If you look at this Pay scale you would be average. If you think everybody here earns more, then you would feel lousy. In the land of the blind the 1 eyed man is King...yeah King of the blind but I guess that why we are often unhappy cos we compare too much.

Anyway bascially i'm doing peanut job so confirm is peanut pay ma, somemore no one in my company do OT one. everyday go office clock in, then go breakfast for an hr, go lunch for 2 hr, tea break an hr, somemore when free, still can study in office.

engineering is like that... i also in this line... doing system, security... busy like hell...when there's project or timeline to meet... if not, everyday snake... or do operational tasks....

 

this line can survive as we are in internet world.... wont die but surviving.... It like hanging urself near a cliff but going nowhere...

Most people talk big online only. Just look at how many people trying to save on parking coupons, live with dents on their car and make noise when coe, road tax, insurance and petrol price rise. Most people's pocket get burned by owning a car.

Btw, a MSc doesn't necessary increase ur pay...a promotion or switching to a higher paying job is needed to do tat.

 

 

Key thing is as long as u r happy w ur current lifestyle, stay happy.

By the way i'm 30 and my annual income only hit slightly above 40k.

 

But i see so many forumer saying they earning big bucks and only in their 20s.. think i must buy more 4D and Toto from now onwards liao

I reckon most here have a car or perhaps looking for one and thus the higher level of affluence amongst members. I guess you will find it even more apparent if you join other car-specifc forums like vag,merc etc.

Don't know about you but I won't stay in such company.. Its too dangerous to get used to such working style. Simply make you "nua" and I don't think you learn anything, simply said, you can claim you work for 10 yrs but still no substance. Period.

If you read my post carefully, I am not generalizing but doubtful that a few are what they claim to be, though we'll never know.

 

remember months ago some fella made claims abt driving a beemer etc and eventually discovered to be lying by our CSI team here. Those who were here months before will get what I mean.
