Urgent help needed~

Hi folks,

Need some help urgently. Those who are familiar can assist?

I bought my car 2nd hand and the transfer date was march this year.

Now the road tax is due on the 5th November. But LTA doesn't allow me to renew it because it say my insurance coverage ends in March (the date I bought the car).

Normally people who buy new cars don't have this problem as the road tax and insurance fall on the same day.

What can people like me do as I don't have enough time to get a good quote to renew my insurance? Also, if I renew another year now, I will have more than 1 year of car insurance until 2012 and also miss out on the additional NCD!

What's the best option for me? Can anyone help?

you can just extend your insurance coverage to match up your road tax duration... best is, you extend to November 2011 so it will be the same as your road tax.

Neutral Newbie

When you bot the car you should have known...wont you ?

Somemore delay it until so late!!! Friday is a PH you know! [sweatdrop]

Anyway i suggest you go back to your current insurance company to extend the coverage lor. Should be able to expediate it ASAP since all records are there already.

Dont think you have time to seek the cheapest quote.

NCD wise, is also a norm to lose out. Unless you plan the purchase just 1-2 months after your insurance anniversary date to minimize the time loss. Oresle LPPL situation for you.

Something that I don't understand, you means you are driving without insurance coverage from Mar till now ? If you have insurace coverage just call your insuracne company to extend for another few months for road tax renewal. Or pay a bit more to get an insurance agent to do everything for you.

Also try Aviva for online quote.

Right. The insurance company can extend the coverage on the same day. If TS really wanna shop for another insurance, at least he extend the coverage for 6 months road tax only...

Just extend your current insurance to end in May from March to coincide with the 6 mths road tax.

When you renew road tax in May then you will can look for new insurance.

Btw, don't need to panick if you are unable to renew your insurance or extend it to match your road tax before 5th Nov. It will be just a $30 late penalty for the 1st month, not some $500 or $1K fine.

My thoughts too, illegal leh. :o

Anyway, whichever insurance company can easily help you adjust to have insurance coverage period match road tax period, that one is small problem.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I'll get the insurance extended hopefully no problems!

Should not have any problems. I too face the same problem before. Unable to renew roadtax because of insufficient insurance coverage (insurance ends 2 months before road tax expires). Thus I just go extend my insurance by another 2 months and no more problems.
