Now aday think it is rare to find TCM that does this anymore. There's a TCM opposite Tiong Bahru Plaza, forgot the address.

 

The guys simply poke with needle and burn the ends, before that he using a sting to measure but I don't know what he's measuring.

I am cleansing the burst blisters at the frontof the chest with saturated salt solution to prevent infection. But those flat blisters on my back do not burst and are hurting me

is it what the old folk called ''snake"?

Shingles the western name for "snake". Ususally only half the body affected, especially around the waist where all the heat generating organs are (now got to sleep topless even on raining night)

Shingles is actually the 2nd stage of chicken pox. True, it can only be contained. Ppl above the age of 60 is more prone to getting this.

The red string that goes round your head is actually to size-up and locate the head of the "snake" after which the guy performing the rite

will use a lighted joss stick and poke the spot.

 

You will then scream "YeeeeeoooooooWWWWWW!"

 

Tsk tsk tsk . . . . fake one lah, better go see Western doctor . . . . the more expensive medcine will take a shorter time to cure you.

 

That time I kena, I paid for cheapo medcine and it took me half a year to recover.

All the internet articles I read said can not cure, only contain it?

go for proper medication from specialist, I had it at age 31 on half of my face! (dont look into the mirror!), shingles usually attack on half size of the body and start spreading. I also went to the so call Chinese thingy that poke joss stick on few points where the shingles attack.

 

sad to say it will relapse upon extreme stress, good indication for me as it alert me of my stress level....

But just came back from holiday and my work place got this Stop Work Order. So more holidays, not stress?

Its a virus. Antibiotics will not cure it of course. Antibiotics only work against bacteria.

My cousin had it when she was just 5yo and it was on her head. But she was lucky she met a good TCM doc at my grandad's place, no recurrence since. Sad to say the doc passed on a decade ago.

Shingles or Snakes, dun pray pray. Its virus flow with our nerves lines, resulting to pain.

 

My friend suffered Shingles a few years ago and gave up on Western doctors' treatment. Then he went to a TCM at AMK Ave 10 (Blk 574 or around it) and got himself treated. There is a signboard "抓蛇" (or something like that) along the grass patches of the curb outside Blk 574 AMK.

 

Advise yr friend to go for the treatment soon. Good luck.

not true also, i had it when i was around 12 years old and got it cured by an old lady that used fire to burn the ''snake head and tail''...it never comes back after it was cured......the curing method is damn painful but it was cured. ...she also give me some powder to rub on by using SALIVA!!!...damn stink but it works and cured me....but she already passed away long long time ago liao....so she can't help TS

i remember in the beginning when the pain was so serious, the dosage was 800mg, 4 times a day for a week or 2.

Just my observation on the way TCM treat "snake"

 

I think the idea is to help the patient to relief the pain first, the "burn" part is to " trigger" some nerve point along yr back bone

to reduce the pain from the snake. After that, herb medication was applied on the "snake" to "dry" them.

 

I remember years ago, there was one "snake" catcher in Tua Payoh. there was a very famous chicken rice coffee shop there.

the shop is a very tiny shop behind a staff selling bubble tea.

my dad kena shingles (snake) 2 months back. he went on his own to the chinese sinseh who pricked the 'snake head'. he told me there wasn't any blister on the point that the sinseh poked, but there was a audible 'piak' bursting sound. thereafter the blisters all dried up, but he had itchness.

 

after a couple of days, he went to see the polyclinic bec of the itch. the doc prescibed some medication but it become worse. he was allegic to them ! went back again and this time a diff doc saw to him. she said she was experienced in this cos her dad also recently kena the snake. well, she changed the medication, but my dad's itchness still took quite some time to heal. even now, he still has the occasional itch on one of the sides.

 

so, my opinion is if u see chinese sinseh (if u trust it works), stick to him to get completely cured. else, go to the western doc and follow thru the treatment. half half here there may just bring more problems.
