Ithunk 1st Gear February 19, 2011 Author Share February 19, 2011 do you brake in and clutch in together? brake then clutch in? then release brake again? or put to neutral then brake? discuss... i do the first as i find its the best for optimal fuel consumption
Ithunk 1st Gear February 19, 2011 Author Share February 19, 2011 and i find that putting to neutral will consume more fuel....for the current vehicle...due to the engine needing fuel not to stall?
MG_Myvi 1st Gear February 19, 2011 Share February 19, 2011 I'm doing the first option too. Understand from a few Car Owner Manual that it's not advisable to put neutral then brake....will cause wear n tear to dunno what.
Kangadrool Supersonic February 19, 2011 Share February 19, 2011 (edited) Downshift to low gear and cruise to stop. Can see the FC meter showing 0L/100KM despite engine screaming above 3K rpm. Very shiok feeling. Edited February 19, 2011 by Kangadrool

Alantyc Clutched February 19, 2011 Share February 19, 2011 Use engine brake to slow down the vehicle by downshifting to lower gears while at the same time using brake to aid. When coming to near complete stop, clutch in & neutral while braking to aid in full stop.
Boyboy 1st Gear February 19, 2011 Share February 19, 2011 Wouldn't this affect the engine in the long run? nope. more like clutch if he didn't rev match before letting go the clutch what kind of engine screams at 3k rpm with the throttle closed??? questionedfish Clutched February 19, 2011 Share February 19, 2011 engine brake, after that normal brake, then clutch in when coming to stop.
Nzy Twincharged February 19, 2011 Share February 19, 2011 that would take alot of work wouldnt it? y not stop it in gear with the foot brake? I also use the same method. Got used to it already. I just keep downshifting and use engine brake till I reach second gear or not enough space already then I use the foot brake and clutch in just before the car stalls. When downshifting I do rev matching so that won't wear out the clutch so quickly.
Nf0rc3r 1st Gear February 19, 2011 Share February 19, 2011 (edited) The right way is to brake until reaching idle RPM den shift to neutral. No need down shift for engine brake unless u tracking. Edited February 19, 2011 by Nf0rc3r

Are you talking about a very low speed situation? Because let's say at 50km/h when you see a red light in front and you start to slow down, braking and clutch in is already disengaging the gear, which means the situation is no different from putting the transmission in neutral and braking. What's the point?
