I am one of early birds who did preorder for avante 2011. If they ask me top up 4k I will rather cancel the order and go for forte or cruze.

I agree, the new avante is overpriced! Buying a car is like voting, got to think carefully and see if it's the right choice. Its still a MIK afterall, so are the buyers willingly to pay premium price just for the looks and ordinary engine? To each his own, anyway staying in sg is stressful, everything went up including my blood pressure. Haa... But If all the earlybirds cancel their order or stand firm and refuse to top up, komoco will be stucked with the first shipment. Goodluck to them then.

But the price of the Avante is seriously too close for comfort to the Renault Fluence. I'm still amazed by the huge exterior size of the Renault Fluence =)

 

i see things differently, i'd think that the cheaper avante means that the fluence is way overpriced

Isn't the Fluence MIK? Build quality should be similar to other Korean brands. Does anyone have an idea whats the OMV of the new Elantra?

At the end , you still have the choice to decide on whether you want to buy the car .... let assume that COE goes crazy and hit 70k and the price of elantra went to 120k .... will you make the same statement about AD playing dirty game ? You would be probably laughing and telling people what a great deal you had buying the elantra at 90k. Willing buyers/willing sellers .... i mentioned before that there are people that will not buy the avante at 40k and there are people that are prepared to pay 90k for one. It is their choice.

 

The problem is the COE didn't change much from Feb till now, but Hyundai still raise the price!!!! So why the early bird booking at Feb at 80k couldn't get the COE?? Shouldn't they give a good reason for that?

 

I will be only laughing and telling people if I get the car at 80k because of early bird booking. Think I will be laughed and told around by people if I'm the early bird booking but still pay for extra 9k for the car.

its actually a good thing that they price it slightly higher so you dont see truckloads of this car on the roads like Lancer EX and Forte

 

too many = too common = lose appeal

Guys, I have been informed today by my SE tat the New Elantre(Avante) showroom model have reached Spore shore & arrangement are bring make for the Pre-launch in their showroom. Pre- launch date haven't been set yet and I am waiting for the invitation from my SE when they decided the date for the Pre-launch. Let's hope tat it is this weekend. Finger crossed....

The Avante may look beautiful at first glance but in no time, pole will be bored by it's design. I feel that the Hyundai designers had overdone the Avante esp the interior with too much curves. Just like the tuscon and i45, many raved about their design initially. However, I don't get to see a lot of both everyday esp the tuscon. I think my citroen c4gp is more common than the tuscon. the price is also on the high side.

The ix35 Tucson, wasn't selling as well, because it has lost the boxy looks of the Tucson, which was seen on its predecessor. And the price being high, hurt sales.

 

The i45 however, is still selling much better than the Sonata predecessor, despite the high COE. I think people who buy the i45 don't mind the lack of brand image, but they're getting a pretty stylish looking car. That low roof-line and all, makes the Passat CC a needless buy for a 4-door coupe car.

The new tucson has to be more curvy lo, cannot be the new design still as boxy as the old tucson ma. But i am quite neutral on tucson new design, not say like or dont like. However, i simply like the design of the i45, if i can afford i dont mind getting the i45.

hahaha...i find it very funny for singaporeans to "own" (but infact own by bank) a car that has the looks to within the test of time where in ACTUAL FACT, most change cars within 3-5yrs or some at 7yrs.....what test of time toking abt here....hahahahaha

No lah. The reason why the previous Tucson sold very well, was firstly, the affordable price, and the purposeful looks of a rugged mid-sized SUV. The new ix35 Tucson is more of crossover looks already. People look at it more like a fat arse hatchback rather than an imposing looking mini-SUV.
