Proton_neutron 1st Gear April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 hahaha...i find it very funny for singaporeans to "own" (but infact own by bank) a car that has the looks to within the test of time where in ACTUAL FACT, most change cars within 3-5yrs or some at 7yrs.....what test of time toking abt here....hahahahaha Just look at the Nissan Sunny that's still common on the roads. I think this car really can weather the test of time. It's ultra reliable too. The Sunny name has always been well received by locals. ↡ Advertisement

But it's the latest Nissan Sunny that you see on the road lorh. Heavy drinker it is, but it sure has a stable drive, stable body, and great interior build quality!! Pity the near useless rear seats for adults though. The rear seats are really cramped.

I believe the code for the current Sunny is the N16. If I am not wrong this model is very similar to the N14 which was launched way back in 1999. In other word, the current Sunny has been on the road for 12 years.

Proton_neutron 1st Gear April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 yah stable body, still can remember the heavy thud sound when closing the door. Yeah! And there are soft touch plastics in the car too =) The low CG also means little body roll in corners too =)

Along the way, they only done some facelift on the car but overall the design still about the same. And when this Sunny launched back in 2000, it was the best selling car btw 2000 to 2002, esp the 1.6 SS version. Almost every household owns a 1.5EX or 1.6SS Sunny! 13177 Hypersonic April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 That's why the Nissan Sunny remains to be one of the best selling models of all time =) The previous sunny 1999 and before not as popular as the 2000 sunny lo. So sunny also doesnt consider best selling model of all time. The sunny only become very popular in the yr of 2000/2002.
Karnaugh Neutral Newbie April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 yah stable body, still can remember the heavy thud sound when closing the door. Loud thud don't mean the car is very solid or stable. Just more sound proofing that's all. I drove a sunny as a courtesy car before and it drinks like mad more than my CTR! But engine quite revvy surprisingly
Proton_neutron 1st Gear April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 Alright, shall I say then, that the Sunny is the best selling model for Nissan? Anyways, true though it drinks like mad, especially for the auto models, it's really hard to fault the ride, handling and there's actually decent performance to this car =) The Sunny is the last of a sturdy, and proper Nissan. The Latio, Teana etc just cannot match the Sunny in terms of quality, ride and handling =(

Not bad at all.

But the 1.5L sunny a bit underpower, and handling also not as gd as the 1.6L, esp the 1.5L manual, not very good to drive.
Chucky2007 Turbocharged April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 I agree with you. Not say cars with good looks or better technology cars are better. Would you want a six speed gear box that breaks down halfway or 4 speed reliable gear boxes that last. I find nothing great with six gears coz my car comes with one. Many consumers talk about reliability on Toyotas but actually really do not know which part of a Toyota is reliable and started saying this and that. Those who buys and know about Toyota will always buy a Toyota is becoz of two points. One, it has a strong engine and two, a strong gear box which never let you down. These two parts of a car are one of the most expensive car parts that one should look into for reliability when buying a car. Toyota is still the one with no fanciful tech or features but it does give you a piece of mind of never having a need to spend major money at the workshop for they give consumers a strong engine and gear box and they are renowned for these. Bro.. 6 speed cvt not so bad as long as dun play the paddle shift..

Complexkid 1st Gear April 14, 2011 Share April 14, 2011 Beautiful for it's class... Makes Fluence looks not so fluent, old... Makes Altis looks even more unker... Blow all its class competitors away in looks The exterior is nice but the interior centre console looks like being sledge-hammered

Somehow i find the new elantra looks a bit like the current civic, esp on the rims the new elantra used. ↡ Advertisement
