I would not waste time bringing my oil there. Frankly you wont even know if they poured your premium motul in. You cant tell motul from the mineral oil just visually. Even if they poured in mineral oil you wont know better. Additionally, we give them cause to make up excuses during warranty claim about that incident where we used our own oil etc.

Legacy filter on top engine bay? Like outback? If brute force cannot maybe just use the circular wrench thing to grip and unscrew.

I would let them do as they wish and get another ws to do a simple oil change. Another $70-$100 (service charges) to prevent confusion and misinterpretation by MI every 5-8k is money well spent. Worth it.

You have a point there. It would be money well spent.

Yup, Legacy filter is exactly that same as the Outback's (identical engines), and is on top. Circular chain wrench would definitely do the trick.

I have tried motul oil once. Shiok for about 2 weeks or so.. Then no feeling.. But don't mind if TOP up is just $16..

I dun need shiok. I dun even need to feel any difference at all. I just want the engine protection and peace of mind.

Bros,

What's the difference b/w the MIRT vs Motul?

Performance?

Costs?

I just emailed MI to ask about oil grades available and pricing. If I do get a reply, I'll let you bros know.

Hi All,

Just got my OB. I am still slowly adjusting to it.... I find the cabin noise very disappointing... maybe the previous car was very quiet even after 10 years, may take me a while to adjust. Personally, the poor insulation defeat having the Harman Kardon speakers.

However, it is a good drive, road holding is good and fuel consumption is impressive. It is my third Subaru, (Impreza, FXT), in my impression, this car feels the best. But the CVT feels a bit weird  and ... floaty... guess I need some time to get use to it...

Really hope Subaru can look into the sound insulation which annoyed me... I enjoy driving long distance, a quiet cabin with good sound system makes the drive even better... and consumers loving the car....

Hi, what were you driving before you got your OB? I'm curious what car, after a decade, was still quieter than your new ride!

I find my fxt relatively quiet. At first I felt the road noise a bit intrusive at hw speeds over rough roads, but jacking up the volume on my hk does the trick. Sent my car for 1k servicing the other day and had to take grab car to tpy to fetch my fxt. It was an old Honda airwave. Then I realised my fxt is Super quiet and comfy and stable! The airwave felt very floaty, noisy like hell and bumpy.

The comparisons has no ends. There is always a better car out there. Our Subaru's are already superior in many ways :)

Floaty caused by too high tyre pressure.. Bring it down n u be ok.

Cabin noise.. Found it as loud as my previous ride. My previous ride was an 8 yO A6. But can't beat my recently COE renewed WRX. Man that was loud..no matter how u insulate..

actually can layer soundproof the front doors and part of the boot where the woofer is but again, its not so much sound deadening effect rather, its to minimize vibrations to make the sound system sound better.

well it helps somewhat I guess. If you open the side panel u will find that the outback is empty. resonating space between the speakers and the metal door. some sound deadening material should help.

imho, I found the noise normal/avg. not amazing not much to complain about either.

Was driving a BM 7 series... The car is very quiet even at 100 km/hr... Kind of sad to scrap it...

I did the extensive sound proofing for my W124, and it is quiet too. So after one circle, from Impreza, FXT, W124, 7 and now OB, take a bit of getting used to.

looking out to sound proof the whole car again...

That explains it. I've driven many generations of the 7-series over the years (none of them mine) so I know exactly what you mean. No wonder you're spoilt when it comes to sound insulation. You know what I miss most about those cars? The ride quality that - coupled with the quiet cabin - dangerously disguised the speed you were travelling at.

Anyway, MI Toa Payoh quoted me $1,150 today to insulate 4 doors and the roof of my Legacy from sound and heat. FYI, in case you're interested. I didn't do it (had sticker shock) though I was sorely tempted.

You might also be interested in the Clasani sound dampening undercarriage coating MI offers.

I collected my car yesterday and was really pissed and disappointed with the MI services. I top up money for the red stitching on my leather and ended up the 4 door panels are still with grey stitching. I asked my SE and he can only reply "its like that, you have to top up n change the side panels to red stitching".

Paid for front sensors and they installed a cheap looking switch at the bottom of the front hear the bonnet switch. Reminded me of those switch pple install to temper with their fuel guage. Asked Again and same answer "its like that".

Anyone with common sense will know that front sensors should be connected at all times and who will want a car with seats n panels of different color threads.

All my SE did was to tell me to write to MI customer service and not expect much. Really disappointed at this type of crappy service and seems like the SE only keen to do sales and not aftersales.

Wont ever buy from MI again after this experience and if the customer service comes back to me with the "its like that" answers. Had been happy owners for my mazda, lexus and toyota cars previously and must really have to say that this is really lousy if any at all aftersales

Make an official complaint to MI, so far the service i received was pretty good. It can be the SE problem completely, especially when you already paid extra for it. Hope you have them stated clearly when signing the paper - so easier to fight.

Wrote in to [email protected] as suggested by my SE who basically washed his hands off.... Will update the outcome. Thanks. I also going to look elsewhere for soundproofing as have experienced the MI expensive worksmanship.

What is your expectation of the hidden "switch"?  Or you expect no switch at all since the front sensors should be connected at all time (and no need switch)?  Wait until the front sensors beeps like crazy for no reason, then you know what the switch is for...haha.

I need to switch if off as the it beeps for no reason and it's loud.  They did some adjustment during the first servicing and now slightly better.

Hi, if you need to reach put to access a "hidden" switch installed at an obsecure location, you will not be using it.

I have front sensors added to my previous 2 rides and they are wired to the ignition and no switches. If the switch beeps suddenly for no reason, i dont think it has anything to so with the on/off function or location.

Anyway, waiting for MI reply

Hi thanks. I m enjoying the ride but really pissed at the services from MI. Been 2 days n not even a response from them.

The ride is good but with such services, i wont buy from MI again and will just look for a PI next time.

Paid premium for agent services and ended up non-existent services rendered.

Will see how long it takes for MI to respond before I escalate. Its not a matter of the costs to rectify the issues but more of the service attitude from MI.

Clocked abour 12km/ltr on VPower for the first tank and looking good.

Will be starting the soundproofing when i m back from my business trip and look forward to more years to come with the outback.

Cheers :)

Your experience makes me glad I didn't go for the front parking sensors, which really tempted me. No one mentioned anything about hidden switches I'd have to fiddle with, and that would have really pissed me off.

In my experience, MI takes a few days to respond to emails but when they do, they follow through.

Please let us know what sort of soundproofing you eventually do. I'm still on the fence about splurging on it. Travel safe!
