Ben5266 Supercharged March 22, 2011 Share March 22, 2011 Currently I am using a Canon 500d. So is it a downgrade or quite similar performance for both? From Canon 500d to Nikon 3100? I think it is a downgrade. 500d to D5000 is same grade. 550D is slightly below D90. 600D is maybe above D90 but below D7000. 70D is slightly above D7000. ↡ Advertisement

Pentium 1st Gear March 22, 2011 Author Share March 22, 2011 (edited) U need to ask yourself why do u need to change? What is important is the man/woman behind the camera. I change system because hands itchy. With the technology so advance now, even my dog can shoot a decent picture with auto mode. Canon had been upgrading its model every 6 mths, so a bit TL. Buy already before can shoot 1000 shots, 2 newer generations already out in the market. Edited March 22, 2011 by Pentium

Yes its an expensive hobby nobody is stopping you... So just go out and grab that camera cos end of the day the pictures are still yours to keep and do whatever you like... does it matter canon or nikon or olympus or panasonic...??? unless its your job la... Other than improvement in sensor, why do u care about changes in technology? I have Nikon D70s since 2007 & only upgrades is 18-105 lens. Trying to improve my skill & feel rather than hardware. Zenithpool 2nd Gear March 22, 2011 Share March 22, 2011 you can try AP (Alan photo). but buying camera the best is to go with someone who know the shop. Can get really lot of freebies. For cathay, I think the "standard" price is $845 with body, kit, 1 x battery and 1 x 4G.

Most important is how your subject or scene is when you capture it. agree with ur point. What I cannot understand is now a days, when someone buy a camera, first thing they ask is how many MP? especially those point-and-shot. Unless they are going for A1 or A0 size, anything bigger then 7-8MP is good enff for even up to A1 printing. Key thing about selecting camera aside from brand, should be the sensor, ISO, LCD and for some, the fps. Brand will come in when at a certain level (apart from used to the particular brand interface. e.g. for me, shoot for yrs using D70, D90, D300 and D3s, but I just can't get use to canon). Canon and nikon still got the biggest share on the market. Nikon has more lens choice. For olympus, it has a group of strong support who are more particular with color management. Not because it release something new and a die-die must get situation. Importantly is enjoyment , buy when it failed to deliver. That explain why certain range of people like to upgrade constantly, whilst some stick to it.

Just depend on how irritating the person is when he/she trying to act they owned the area. =) Models/ brand matters to some. Depending on what they are looking for in the system. Of course, those hardcore well verse in technical is a pain in the ass when the comparison start up, esp in forum. lol
