Karu 6th Gear December 26, 2012 Share December 26, 2012 LX 5 is good. Just a little bulky for a compact camera.
Lala81 Hypersonic December 26, 2012 Share December 26, 2012 LX 5 is good. Just a little bulky for a compact camera. i don't fancy a lens cap for compact cameras with fixed lens also. SLR i can understand. but fixed lens with lens cap ....

Karu 6th Gear December 26, 2012 Share December 26, 2012 I heard the canon s95 / s100 is good also. More compact than LX5.
Ixus 1st Gear December 26, 2012 Share December 26, 2012 I have both J1 and LX3. I can't comment on LX5 as I don't have that camera but I believe should be quite similar to LX3, though better. Both J1 and LX3 are good cameras but J1 is definitely a step above LX3, in terms of versatility (different lens to choose from), bigger sensor size, super fast auto focus, very good image quality, good low light performance (with the 18.5mm f/1.8 lens). Both are compact in size, although not really pocketable and I still need a pouch to carry around. The J1 is a very fun camera to shoot with and I enjoy shooting with it more than LX3. I can do portrait, street, buildings with it, and the sharp 30-110mm lens is something that LX3 cannot match. The price for J1 and V1 are relatively low now, and some places are selling a brand new V1 with kit lens for less than $500. The lenses for Nikon 1 system are not expensive compared to DSLR (in the $200-300 range). The V1 used to be selling for more than $1k last year but at the current price it is definitely a better buy compared to a prosumer cam.
