GTR78 Neutral Newbie April 11, 2011 Share April 11, 2011 It was irresponsible and foolish of the Malaysian authorities to say the least. Go anywhere else in the world, and the "hostages" will be volunteers who are physically fit and prepared for the torment. It is just a matter of time before someone will get seriously hurt or killed in the next "exercise". They will never learn. ↡ Advertisement
Parkingidiot 1st Gear April 11, 2011 Share April 11, 2011 Actually if they tried this in Singapore, before the end of the train ride, there'll be a dozen posts on Stomp about the incident with iPhone videos and photos from various angles. Also, in the midst of it, there be some shots of people pretending to sleep on the reserved seats, students eating and drinking on the train and some FTs yakking and blocking the doors. Bystander50 5th Gear April 11, 2011 Share April 11, 2011 There's so much unrealistic wayangs on our public transportations. The volunteers can be so brave to put out fire and carry out evacuations so smoothly. Come a real situation with panic on board, see how these people would react and perform. The Malaysian exercise is done in a realistic manner to test the publuc's reaction to such a situation and prepare a suitable counter-offensive. But I would say they should have looked for a carriage with younger people. Remember the pinyo hostage crisis involving Hongkong tourists? If you do not have a realistic test on how people would react, every simulated exercise is always a success with the enemies captured or dead. To a certain extent, I do agree with you because our too clever by half authorities holds their informed drill of a terrorist attack on the subway system at 6am on a Sunday. Don't think the people involve will take it too seriously either.

Don't think the people involve will take it too seriously either. The prob wif our exercises is everyone knows their part, to play dead and the "explosion" always happen when the train is in the station. What's more, all the rescuers already on standby. If all thesr pre planned exercises still fail, i got nothing to say. A more realistic one would be the train is in-between stations or a runaway train with causalities and terrorists on board. See how people would react in a smoked filled and burning train. Would they be still as calm as those protrayed in the exercises.
