Pisces69 6th Gear May 1, 2011 Share May 1, 2011 Not just Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio itself also has a lot of old people struggling. People always say old people work cos they feel bored but non of the old folks I spoke to casually want to work if they have enough money. I went Redhill b4 fr lunch with some family members last year. We had several dishes on the table while we eat. Actually got old pple so desperate ty wil walk past yr table n snatch food from our table to eat. I was like shocked to see this but I thought about it n ty must b really hungry. I then put some food aside in a plate n called the old man sttting nearby to take it n eat. He a bit scared but finally came n took to eat n thanked me. I was surprised to see this happening in our First World Country. ↡ Advertisement

Leo72 6th Gear May 1, 2011 Share May 1, 2011 P8P is only interested in courting big multi-nationals. We r mostly forgotten except when coming elections where ty need our votes to continue earning their multi-million dollar salaries. Once elections r over, its back to biz fr them. Making $ is their main concern. I just hope ty dont make too much $ fr themselves n remember to leave some $ fr us poor folks. we're forgetten until election come and someone suddenly remember we're here. Even if you kpkb, they also dun remember you till election time.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 1, 2011 Share May 1, 2011 been living in toa payoh for 30yrs got a lot of old, poor, desititute ppl ... i remember one old lady squat infront of the cake shop beside which is the snip avenue and ntuc. the cake shop worker then take 2pieces of cake to treat the old lady. dun know why the pap so heartless, force so many old ppl to clear plates even when they are so old. pap force by delaying CPF payout, ever higher housing costs which they may still be paying, some heartless sinkaporeans even say at least they got jobs .... how much will it cost to give them meals and take care of them, they contributed to sinkapore also ? and PAPAYA rewarding yourself with 8mth bonus, these is how PAPAYA will take care of low income ? I believe many/most baby-boomers witnessed the efforts by MM Lee, GCT, and their teams, so repeatedly voted PAP. However, the current generation PAP look forward to abandoning these regular voters to appease/focus on the new younger voters. Hence, we share such observation. Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 1, 2011 Share May 1, 2011 If you're an MP there for 5 years, don't tell me you never run into those old folks, they're in the same place all the time for years. Rather than waiting for them to seek help, an MP should have the mentality of helping those in need. Just like a doctor will save any person with a medical condition irregardless if he/she is off duty. You got the point. You are right. People Avoiding Party protocol to avoid them? They must hv been really starving to resort to this. I just wonder what our 1st world gharmen is doing about this? Or maybe ty dont even want to know about it. Just pretend it does not exist in Stinkapore. But if too many complaints about these old pple, I guess 1 day ty wil go n pick all of them up n lock them away in some home fr the poor n homeless so other pple wil not see n get a bad impression of our 1st world gharmen. As far as they r concerned, this type of thing does not exist here.

Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear May 1, 2011 Share May 1, 2011 Out of sight, out of mind mentality. Two workers sweeping the void deck below now. PAP coming later. But I practice party avoiding people protocol (laugh) After I voted them, they introduced Gangsters-Rob-Citizens to bar me from voting the candidate I choose. Not fair to me. Like that I think its more that ty r serving themselves 1st. At $15,000/- monthly per head fine with me if they are SMC candidate, as they need to work. GRCs, hmm... I believe they should share that among the whole GRC (no value for money if got any malingering among them undetected). Example: I work OT can earn more than such calibre (laugh). Poper 2nd Gear May 1, 2011 Share May 1, 2011 Every country has them so we are not alone. But it is not expensive to feed them and give them shelter as these people need only 3 meals a day and a bed. Its their fear of creating more poor people if the help becomes too good and cushy. PAP already say liao... priority goes to constituencies that vote PAP.. So what if all of us pay taxes and it's our money? We're eventually responsible for the s--t around us... ↡ Advertisement
