Poper 2nd Gear May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 i was sorely disappointed after GE2006, so much noise but only 34% of singaporeans felt P*P shouldnt lead... PTUI you singaporeans! and i can tell u without a doubt that 2.5 hrs ago, i put a cross not against the lightning but against the sunshine... I believe in GE2006, only 47 out of 80+ seats are contested, those walkovers are counted as 100% PAP (correct me if I'm wrong). Thus, if walkovers (100% PAP) + contested seats (x% PAP) => 66.6% for PAP, then the votes ain't that rosy for LHL.. May be that's why when LHL know many seats will be contested, he said this will be a "freak" result? GE2011 has a very different competitive landscape. ↡ Advertisement
Civic2000 Supercharged May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 (edited) If the result turn out to be 87 - 0 or 86 -1, the only thing I can say is - we Singaporean 只 好 认 命 . Edited May 7, 2011 by Civic2000
Rainman 1st Gear May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 Will those who voted the Opposition feel ashamed? Dig and bury their head in the ground? That's really the time for us to repent.
2bfree Neutral Newbie May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 If 87 - 0......then really.......any hope of true democracy is lost. There wldnt be another chance like this for 30 years.
Vulcann 6th Gear May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 If 87 - 0......then really.......any hope of true democracy is lost. There wldnt be another chance like this for 30 years. And all the oppo parties can close shop & forget about wanting to do something for Singapore. No one will want to challenge the authority anymore even if things are not right because it is simply not worth it.

Vulcann 6th Gear May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 not likely from what i have seen, heard & feel the last 10 days....... Ever the pessimist, I have attended rallies for the past few GEs & heard a lot of grouses of all wanting to wake up the incumbents but ultimately was disappointed because only us PP & HG folks were the only ones holding the fort. Please prove me wrong this time, people.
Kopites Supersonic May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 (edited) Why? I thought it is those residents at Tanjong Pagar who ought to be ashamed of themselves. Not that i was given a choice do i? Ashame is a very strong word bros to use on TP residents. Edited May 7, 2011 by Kopites

Aristotle 5th Gear May 7, 2011 Share May 7, 2011 I dun think it will be 87-0, but it will be a disappointing day for most, that's for sure. It will take at least 2-3 more generations before we can feel or breathe the winds of change. The super duper strong support of the ruling party by our golden oldies is very real. And I dun blame them at all, seriously. They have seen what PAP have done to transform the country, and it will not be easy to take away such support in the near future. Slowly, but surely, hopefully we will get there
