F1fan Neutral Newbie May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 Car has some paint splattered (some are fine dots whereas some are quite big like five cents coin and even a long one) which i suspect is from the paint used for the multi carpark upgrading. Those that landed on the windscreens and plastic parts can be easily scrapped off fortunately. Question: 1. Whats the best way to remove these unwanted paint? Thinner, machine polish, etc? 2. Possible to provide feedback to Town Council/HDB for compensation due to negligence of the workers? Appreciate advise from those that have similar experience. ↡ Advertisement
Kianbeng Clutched May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 Thinner -> it'll melt the white paint + your car's paint at the same time. Polish? Could be 1 option to try. But I suggest you immediately bring this to the attention of the town council. They will be able to trace to the contractor. These contractors are supposed to cover your car when they are doing painting. I believe the contractors involved will need to compensate you ie reimburse your polishing or whatever thats required. Nzy Twincharged May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 Can try using a claybar to remove the paint. Done for someone before but not sure if will work for urs cuz my experience was with those very small droplets of paint.

Joseph22 Turbocharged May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 Wonder if clay bar helps to remove the unwanted paint yes it does help. but dont skim on this. more expensive one easier to remove. if you are lazy go do polishing and pay additional 100 bucks they will get it clean for you. Sg2303 2nd Gear May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 OK, I'm speaking from experience after running over some paint at night along Upper Bukit Timah road. I didn't realised till the next afternoon when I saw the paint after parking. So I went to a petrol station car wash for a wash and asked the guy to concentrate the spray more on the affected area. The spray was powerful enough to get rid of 50% of the paint. (I believe if I ask him to spray longer, more would have dropped off.) The rest, I tried using turpentine, but not much was removed. I also tried claying, waxing, cleaner wax etc but the effort was futile. Hence I started using my fingernail to scrap off the bigger spots 1 by 1. Tedious job but effective. Some of the smaller droplets and residue were removed using nail polish remover. Definitely more effective than turpentine. Then after a few car washes at the petrol station with the strong spraying, all was gone.
Dreamer143 Clutched May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 THERE ARE DIFFERENT METHODE TO REMOVE UNWANTED PAINTS BUT REMEMBER unwanted paint not merged with original paint of car so apply unwanted remover in center of paint spot to see the application ↡ Advertisement
