Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 Only if they read some of the posts in this thread. Lol The stench of racism is overpowering and getting stronger. This can only spell trouble for Singapore. Race riots almost killed us before - beware of that road Fact is things have changed worldwide this is now a global economy with mobile workforce we have to compete with people from all nations. We have to rise to that challenge.if we are too weak or lazy then we have only ourselves to blame It may seems unbelieveable, but there are some Employers who claimed preferrence to employ a few malingering FT with MSc. than a productive local without such qualification. Later start to retrench the malingering FT when overhead gets high. So would locals be keen to work for such Employers (growing in numbers it seems)? ↡ Advertisement

Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 The one thing I notice about Pinoys are that they seldom bother to interact with others that are not Pinoys. Most foreigners would have the same insecure feel oversea. Some locals also same here.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 It depends. Generally I find that managing people from other countries takes more effort and you'll need to make tremondous efforts to understand and mingle with them. Once you have their respect, it'll be easier to manage the team, otherwise it'll be hell for the team leader/manager. Patience is key and from personal experience(20-30 pple) , it'll take at least 6 months before you have control of the team. I had no problem with that. No payment if I am not satisfied, and time is running out for them.
Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 Pinoys r s h i t heads....sometimes they r arrogant and lazy I believe there are many more others arrogant and lazy. Albeniz Turbocharged June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 (edited) pinoys r only good for retail segment Agree that Filipinos might be good at retail segment. They are patient and could speak better English (than the PRCs). I was at Giordano and there were 2 staff in the shop, one PRC and the other a filipino. The PRC was digging her nose at the counter while I was served by the filipino. After I was done and proceed to the counter to pay, the PRC while talking to me face to face, continued to dig her nose as if it was very common and acceptable. Even this needs to be taught? I had a very bad impression of that outlet. Feel like writing in. Edited June 12, 2011 by Albeniz

Turret Clutched June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 (edited) Let me add my fair share of experiences with these pinoys during the course of my work.... Basically, except for 1 or 2, the many pinoys I came across are those arrogant, lazy and incompetent. True, their knowledge is mediocre and what they resort to are those high-handed tactics to get what they want during any disagreements. In fact, they do not add value to the industry I am working in - infact, they are disgraceful to the industry which I do not understand why the Government of Singapore admit them as FT in the very first place. The Government of Singapore during the course of attracting foreign investments have adopted an over-liberalized attitude in approving such these so-called FT thinking that it will bring good to Singapore, Yes only at MACRO-level. At the micro-level, many Singaporeans are suffering having to deal with these incompetent and yet have to please these pinoys. However, having said that, I think they are competent domestic maids and perform well in the retail sectors. Other than that, I do not think they add real-value to the development of Singapore as a whole and the MOM should tighten not only those who are supposed to come in to Singapore BUT also those existing in-competent pinoys (especially granting any PRs rights to them). Turret Clutched June 12, 2011 Share June 12, 2011 Infact, the Government should immediately lower the ratio of Singaporean to those FT (of each country) - any excess should be repatriated back to their home country IMMEDIATELY in order to maintain a healthy balance. The Government should adopt an economic policy of sustainable and steady growth, ..... i prefer slow yet consistent 2-3% growth instead of wild-fluctuations like +20% this year and -10% next year. Just like the housing prices over the last 5 years.... once the bubble is burst -I can't imagine how many people will jump off from their building. Having said that the officials will defend saying Singapore is an open-economy and needs FT to supplement the shortage of Singaporeans and that the external factors are beyond our control. I can agree to a certain extent - however, considering the high salaries we are paying our high-ranking officially, it is naturally, logically and not unreasonable that our expectations of them should be equally high as well. It seems some/many of them good for playing computer games only. Workwise rather poor productivity due to their careless attitude/culture. Heard at my work place, they had to abandon celebrating 911 incident like festival here after other nationalities objected.
