Picanto 3rd Gear November 23, 2011 Author Share November 23, 2011 I just reformatted the card and installed the new firmware. Now it seems to be able to record but not sure when the problem will resurface. Using the original Samsung 16GB card that comes with my set, I think the card got corrupted after a few days of usage. I suspect it gets corrupted after overwriting the older video clips, hence manufacturer required users to format the SD card once a week at least (refer to the manual). The recorder on the other hand is not capable to notifying the user that the card is corrupted, hence I was driving around, thinking there was recording (the recorder did say Blackvue is startting normal recording) and then after driving it goes "Blackvue for your safe driving". The manufacturer must come up with a more intelligent robust firmware. the weakness of BV is its inability to notify user that the card cannot record due to whatever problems. i got problems with kingston cards. in the end use oem sandisk and its working fine now ↡ Advertisement
Ftco 2nd Gear November 23, 2011 Share November 23, 2011 Yeah, great product but what a let down on the software. My other car cams never had software issues like the blackvue b4. Imagine my DRS1100PRO been on 24/7 recording for abt 1.5yrs w/o any issues. If it were of higher resolution, I will not have switched to the Blackvue. Lucky for me, I am using both the GSE580 with the blackvue for my front recording. GSE580 has not failed me since I got it two mths ago. Reading on this forum, the software issues seem isolated to the DR400G. My DR300 do not have such issues other than with some brands of micro SD cards. SLSAMG88 1st Gear November 23, 2011 Share November 23, 2011 Just got my DR400 today! But reading all your posts about the crappiness of the Samsung SD card, looks like I need to buy a Sandisk one. Any recommendations on prices of the SD cards? Also, for those who have installed Power Magic, can you share the cost of installation? I was recommended to goto Car Beauty Centre at Kaki Bukit, are they reliable?

Bladerunner 1st Gear November 29, 2011 Share November 29, 2011 (edited) Hi Blackvue users, I'd recently installed the DR400 in my ride and patch the av output from the BV into my Pioneer 4350 av input, but the video display kept scrolling up and down. I had change every settings in my HU from NTSC - PAL - Auto - Secam - Pal N, etc and also tried changing the setting in the Blackvue software from NTSC - PAL and vice versa, still not working. Any users out there having the same issue like mine? Another problem with mine is like some users mentioned before - the original 16GB Samsung card suddenly stopped recording, fortunately I took out to check when I notice the SD card LED not blicking on the Blackvue. Eventually did a re-format and now is working but not sure when will it stopped "again". Hope they can quickly come out with the new improve firmware. I had change every settings in my HU from NTSC - PAL - Auto - Secam - Pal N, etc and also tried changing the setting in the Blackvue software from NTSC - PAL and vice versa, still not working. Any users out there having the same issue like mine? No problem for me. I selected PAL setting in the Blackvue software, hook it up to my Nextbase DVD player, video image is stable. Place the Blackvue unit centre of windscreen, video is stable, then disconnect the wires. Done. No such issues.
Toyomax Neutral Newbie November 30, 2011 Share November 30, 2011 Hi, I need some advice on my Blackvue DR300. I installed this a couple of months ago. All was working fine until recently I went overseas. I disconnected my blackvue by pulling out the plug. Normally it'll turn back on when I put back the plug. But subsequently, my car battery went dead upon my return. After I managed to jumpstart my car, I plug back the blackvue and to my surprise, it did not turn on. There was no blue indicating light on the camera. Anyone experienced this before?

My friend's Alpine 502 is working fine too... not sure is it the av output compatibility issue on the BV itself or there's something wrong with my BV av output or my HU av input... Another option is to get a portable video monitor and pluck in the av output from my BV unit to check. Know it's not a big issue but just wanna confirm what's the problem. Any BV users with Pioneer 4350 HU having the same problem as me?
