From Christianity's context, tithe is required as a way to "give" back to God (essentially, it's back to people through charity). Remember the most and 2nd most important commandments is not this and sadly not as much emphasize than the tithing part. Go to the room and confess you didn't give and god will forgive you. $1 also give, give the amount you like. Don't be pressured by people around you and end up kaya gu you char lou ti everyday. You live for yourself, not the people or the church around you. Without you, people and church still goes on. Without you, your family will be devastated. Hope what I said helps.
