LOA?

Do your company have a set of code of ethics? There should have indicated can be done. It all depend on the company's culture. Some have it grey and unspoken. It's better to read the code properly and also seek help if you are not clear. Ask your boss to check with HR.

If your company is a MNC, then surely you have to comply with FCPA - Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (like Poky has mentioned).....

different company have different policy on this.

i work in one company that have a policy of anything below USD 50.00 dont have to declare.. above USD 50.00 declare and let the company decide you keep or company keep or return to Vender/Supplier/Sub-con.

so its not exactly grey area..

i also work in a company where even a simple mooncake cannot take.

if we are taking the amounts (whether its large or small) as the benchmarks, it means it's grey overall except individual companies pick one cut-off point to suit themselves. Yes, as per individual company its not grey, but across the industry it's not pure black n white.

For those who work and earn the official / legitimate rewards (ie salaries / bonuses etc) and not for such 'fringe' benefits, best is to pass all gifts, or declare lunches/drinks to the employer, its up to the latter to decide how to deal with the gifts / goodwill gestures provided by third parties.

Sleep well after that. [:)]

the girl may have 2nd layer of panties, after she drops the 1st, director will have to ask 'how much' again to get rid of the 2nd one.... :D pure business, not kum cheng or arts...

i see. check whether you also sign a code of ethic and anything else.

let me ask you -

is it right for you to bring your potential customers to KTV, buy them drinks and girls during business negotiations? potentially if you don't bring them there, you will NOT get their business?

There is at least one type of situation I am trying to figure out whether corruption is committed:-

A is the manager in charge of say the outsourced security service for his boss. He went through a proper tender process, all transparent, and eventually appointed X company to provide the service for say 2 years.

During the 2 years, A manages the service provided by X in a fair manner not taking advantage of X for personal gains. In appreciation of A's fairness, X gives A a big expensive hamper and has it sent to his home.

Let's say A's boss has no specific rules regarding employees receiving gifts from suppliers/contractors, under CPIB rules, if A accepts the hamper, will he be found guilty?
