That's an interesting charcaterisation, and phrasing it this way I fear is not very complimentary towards you.

 

Upon birth, the children would automatically have been given US citizenship (as per all children with at least one US Citizen parent), afther that, choosing which citizenship to maintain is a matter of family dynamics - it is entirely possible that his wife "insisted" or that there were other factors play.

 

I would think it's not a case of him "making them choose" to adopt. this sounds like he proactively secured for them - and forced them into abandoning Singapore. I am sure the dynamic is very different to that.

 

Although I must admit, that his own children are not even citizens is something that I find "interesting" to say the least, and it is something that I feel does colour a lot of what he does and decisions that he makes - not least of which on NS and education issues.

Maybe that is is Wife's decision to give birth their children in USA ?

I don't think those who leaked the documents out actually edited them.

 

So now that he claims these are false, why don't he SUE Wikileaks or the US State Department?

No guts to take on the US or the documents hold some truth to a certain extent?

To be fair, notice that in the cable, it was not a quote.

The person who submitted the report may have added his/her own interpretation of what was said. The word "venomnous" could have been the opinoin of some US official.

We will never known for sure.

I wont say that any particular race is 'good' for some jobs as i feel everyone is entitled to choose the job he prefers and no job is inferior to others even though the pays or working environments may not be the same.

I guess I hold different expectations of a common man and that of a political leader who tells us to be loyal to sgp while allowing his children to be born in USA knowing well that they would be given US citizenship at birth. I am not saying in his position he has to marry a singapore citizen to avoid such a situation, but if he thinks wife/family are more important than setting an example as a loyal leader, maybe he should have declined the offer of such a leader position in the first place?

this is a very interesting pattern, many minority ministers in singapore history did not marry their own race.

 

yaacob: married an american.

abdullah tarmugi (speaker): married a chinese.

vivian (though a half chinese himself): married a chinese.

any chinese ministers married non-chinese??
