Nzy Twincharged September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 I think probably his first time having his car stall on lane one so did no experience probably panicking when his car stall so just stop and get out first rather than coast and try go to the left. I think if have to stop at the side of the road even if its the left lane its still safer to get out and watch out for oncoming traffic.
Arowana1 1st Gear September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 You have not see those accident in NSH yet . A big truck came cashing you from behind , you are finished ! I think best is out of the car and stay 300m away in front of your car , and look out for KUKU driver come cashing on you . why in front and not behind? always been wondering which one is safer. Fastfatdude Neutral Newbie September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 Car breakdown on highway, get out...grab the triangle and place it 50 - 100 m behind your car. Then jump over safety railings to make phone calls. Staying in the car, standing behind, standing in front are all the stupid things people do to get killed. Oh yeah, i hate tax drivers too... SimonTan 2nd Gear September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 Sad indeed. One year old SSS. Engine died. Very very serious car problem!! It cost him his leg. Life is cruel.
Csnewbie 1st Gear September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 Also never change your flat tyre yourself on Expressways. Ask for help-----EMAS or private tire changing trucks. And stay away from your stationary car. just my 2 cents.
Dh15 Clutched September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 It has nothing to do with changing to a SSS. If it is fated, even changing to a Bentley, it will be the same outcome. All I can say is I feel sorry for him to be there at the wrong day wrong time. Taxi driver is just a farking kuku to not notice 2 stationary cars. But did the SSS driver turn on hazard lights? Did he put up the orange triangle further up away from his car so that other cars will know that there is a breakdown car ahead? s--t happens. TMCTR Neutral Newbie September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 (edited) Happened to me and my dad before in the previous generation Suzuki swift. Lancer and Picnic collided side by side, picnic safely on the left shoulder (Happened just before CTE tunnel, shoulder is big). Lancer on the 1st lane. Our car was behind some Volvo, suddenly Volvo swerve left, my dad continued to accelerate, thought he give way. Immediately, our car whack into the rear, at 60kph, spin 2 times. We couldnt swerve, some big garbage truck on our left, and the road only 2 lanes. Fortunately, nothing serious happened. Only got one big bruise below my tummy, due to belt. Pippo20 Neutral Newbie September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 http://remorseregretrewind.blogspot.com/ A fellow swift driver met an accident after his car broke down at lane 1 expressway. A taxi created the accident but will get away with a fine & suspension maximum. You may look at this blog at the injustice we may face in Singapore. ***WARNING*** Blog contains gross picture. The taxi driver is 71years old.. I've seen many times on the road reckless and slow reactions by old drivers.. Haiz.....
Tsr729 1st Gear September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 Never ever stay inside your car or open your bonnet and try to troubleshoot the problem if your car breaks down on the highway. Get out of your ride and stay away from the road/vehicles as far as possible. Call for help/tow truck etc.

No road shoulder to stop at, had to stop on 3rd lane.. took a risk and open bonnet rectify the problem, but traffic was heavy la, so cars were slow already. Expertz 1st Gear September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 Not gonna say taxi is not at fault, but in this situation, the driver had to shoulder some of the blame. Stopping your car in lane 1 is extremely dangerous. I myself almost slammed into the back of a broken down car on Lane 1. Why? Because the idiot decided to stop his car right after the crest of a uphill slope on lane 1. Can only see the car once you clear the top and by them had to swerve out of the lane to avoid. At 2am, not much traffic. It was an accident waiting to happen. i once encountered while driving at 70km/h on lane 1 while during heavy rain, approached the down curve of a slope when water suddenly splashed onto my windscreen covering the entire windscreen in a split second immediately after the wiper wiped the water away, i noticed a car that had previously spun 180 deg, stopped and facing my car head on at lane 1 lucky for me my brakes and tires were brand new, else i'd surely have hit him directly the driver was outside of the car but i didn't notice any impact damage; wonder why he didn't move his vehicle but didn't bother to stop to ask, if i very nearly hit him then somebody else will surely hit me next immediately shifted and moved off drivers, if your car stalls and cannot move in lane 1, do put the small triangle or stand at the road corner 10m infront of your car to notify other drivers to slow down
Expertz 1st Gear September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 serious accident always taxi is one of it... LTA should impose all taxi install the speed meter(like army vehicle).. Taxi should install CCTV on all cab to monitor the drivers.. This way i believe all taxi will be a good ride for commuters.. then you are going to have 70km/h taxis on the 1st lane which will cause more accidents after which LTA will review and stipulate that 70km/h is too much speed for singaporean drivers soon all expressways will be limited to 60km/h
SimonTan 2nd Gear September 24, 2011 Share September 24, 2011 Life is unpredictable. Today I m going out to eat some nice food. Sometimes....saving money and hoping for a better retirement seems silly if you have met with similar life defeating accidents. Better to spend more now, get a safer car and perhaps live a simple n obscure life for retirement.
