Hi I got my first car , the ford focus mk 2 fm regent in 07 n has been

Driving ever since . The handling is great though fc is on a High side.

But overall, I feel it's a great car to drive n I feel safe

Driving it . The maintenance costs to me are reasonable though

I serviced my focus at the dealer . I find it reasonable especially

When they have the equipment n expertise to look

Into the servicing work needed. I may get the new focus

At an appropriate time as it looks great n has greater

Improvements that comes with it.no regrets Wth

The ford focus despite it's nOt popular here but on

A positive note, I don't have to queue so long for

My car servicing appts n know that my car is not

Rushed to be serviced . :o[wave]

I have a 5-6 year old Ford Focus. Best handling in its class. Good drive but YES, its slightly underpowered. I can live with that.

Maintenance is your usual. General servicing, brake pad/rotors etc are unavoidable.

Depending on mileage, you might have to spend a tad more to get the timing belt replaced, maybe shocks etc..

At the end of the day, if you are unlucky, you buy a used (3-year old) Toyota/Honda, you probably have to visit the workshop more often than any other cars.

Frequent servicing and replacement or wear and tear will keep your car in shape.

Talking about the new Focus Mk3.

If you are into German cars, this Focus is currently the cheapest Made In Germany car that you can buy in the new car market here in SG.

That's considered pretty good, considering it's 'up there' German brethrens - the Merc, BMW and Audi.

And the not-so-atas VW and Opel.

I drove a 2008 Ford Focus before. Rough handling, needs some strength to turn the steering. FC about 8.3km/L. Engine noisy. Aircon not very strong and very noisy, masks out the radio at higher setting.

U sure you driving one? Handling is the best in its class... Did you service at Regent Motors?

The rule of thumb is to go back to the authorized dealer, Regent Motors. I have a friend who has been faithfully his focus there for the past 5 years and it is still in good shape and ride. It is a chicken and egg thing. You save on maintenance and more problems later.

it is also full of gadgets and stuff that the normal german brands do not put in Bread and butter cars

for normal servcing and small stuff, esp if your warranty is up, no need regent. there are many workshops that does it. However, regent not that expensive compared to other conti brands, so ok also.

Think these dealers don't know just anyhow whack. Does he have the car in stock? If he has, I bet he wouldn't say this. He probably was trying to convince you to get a jap ride instead.

The only problem which the Focus gave us was an alternator issue. Had to replace it prematurely at under 40k, but that was covered under the 5 years agent warranty. Servicing was as per normal. Was even able to do alternate interval servicing and warranty was still honoured. Not sure about current times though.

Yes, you are right, Call up the dealer to say interested to look at his Focus, immediately he say Focus no good, ask me to look at his jap cars. I was wondering :o:o , you post ads for Focus, yet do not want to sell ??

to be frank, Regent Motor's Warranty Program for Ford cars are the best in he market. its 5 years or 100,000km warranty comes unfettered and not with exclusions to specific parts warranty. i read and heard about so many AD - on surface their warranty program may be 100,000km but hidden in the clauses are the 100,000km only on the engine an gearbox. other parts is still 60,000km or not even covered.

even as i bought the car as the second owner, i enjoyed all the free servicing and warranty up till the last day i hit 100,000km.

bro, this thing i learn about website advertising is that :- they are so cheap and sometimes bundled that you get "bait" ads.

example in propertyguru, some of the adverts are not for units the agent have in hand to sel. they are merely using it to filter and attract interested buyer of such particular flat, and then after that persuade them to use his service to look for a flat and thereby securing the buyer agent commission.

i believe in sgcarmart it is not going to be a lot different if the cost of advertisement is low. some of the ads aer just to raise the awareness of the car dealer brand and therefore entice you to buy any other cars in their stable.

been driving for 1wk+. still run in period. haven't wack

Compared to mk1 ?

Pros :

quieter, more comfortable, less stiff suspension. faster pickup slightly. much better interior. More gadgets like voice control, auto headlights, etc. Better FC

Cons:

Dual clutch needs some getting used too. Steering is light at low speed, bit heavier at higher speed. Electric steering not as nice feel as hydralic.

Summary, not as good a driver's car, more comfortable and nicer for the passengers. :)

Thanks for sharing. Will visit RM soon for a test drive. Any friendly SE to recommend?

How the maintenance for the FOCUS after 5 or 6 year of driving ? I was intending to get a 06/07 model, the dealer advice me not to get the car, always need to send workshoop.

Let's face it, how many dealers really know about cars? They only talk about features and prices, of course they would love to sell us their overstocked jap cars.

It was a leased car, so servicing was done regularly. Really, the steering is very stiff. Hard to manoeuvre when reversing. After the lease was up, I moved on the a Civic, Matrix and now Touran. All much easier to reverse.

Should be okay ba and is it cheap for a 2nd hand ? Worth to get one if the price is good [rolleyes] but getting rid of it will be difficult if you intend to sell it off after driving for a while. [:(]
