Raytham Neutral Newbie October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 Hi Bro, What's a brake servo vacuum leak? My friend said could be my rectifier issue that causes the tremble meaning even after battery changed, the charging is not constant. However, this is only assumption as i can only find out next week when i send my car down for servicing and also for a check. If it's the brake servo vacuum leak, how much will it cost to replace? And yes, engine almost stall and it stall quite a numbers of time especially when i do a reverse. I have to keep rev-ing to keep my engine alive. Is it dangerous for daily driving if i never resolve the leak asap? Funny part was before the battery, everything was normal.. trembling only start after the battery replace. Any chances of a faulty Idling Valve Actuator? Since you mentioned you need to keep reving to keep yr engine alive. Once you dont rev yr engine, yr idling valve actuator will keep the engine idling constant and alive. A wild guess though. ↡ Advertisement
Chickensoup 1st Gear October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 Hi Bro, Mines MT transmission. The car doesn't have that issue before battery change. So I don't believe it's brake servo leak. I called up my mech and was told that ECU could be reset and causes it. I tried performing steps to reset my ECU according to swift UK site by flooring on pedal for 30sec, turn ignition on, step on 30sec again but problem still persist. Guess I will leave it at it is as it's pretty dangerous to drive now because the stall will caused the steering to lock. Boh pian, tomorrow send to workshop or diagnostic Liao. No harm disconnecting the battery again for an hour, then refit back. Hopes it solves your problem. Don't do the 30sec floor pedal thingy! These are back door engineering steps used by factory under special circumstances. It may cause confusion to the ECU.
Phuabe2192 Neutral Newbie October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 Hi Bro , If the engine always want to dies off when you brake and coming to a stop everytime . Most likely is something happened to engine , like throttle or sensor . Maybe your throttle is dirty or your throttle position sensor is faulty . Do you face sluggish response when throttle to move off . You can try this , not too much on gas and just normal pedal on the gas and let go . Do you feel your engine like abit going at low rpm then back to normal for 2 to 3 seconds ?
Chickensoup 1st Gear October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 Hi Bros, I encountered car tremble issue whenever i starts to brake followed by completed stop. I just did a battery changed because the battery when dead on me. I noticed the voltage dropped from 14v to 12/11v whenever i brake followed by completed stop. After tremble for few secs, the voltage went up to 14v again. No issues of trembling when moving and the voltage is stable at 14v.. Anyone encountered this before? Could it due to battery not full charged yet or alternator faulty? Please advice. Do ensure and re-check all terminals are properly secure. Loose connection may be one of the cause. Donut Supercharged October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 Is yr car still under warranty? If it is, just go back to agent workshop. Next time don't wait until battery die on you. I think it's ECU problem. Can't be other mechanical problem. ( where got such a confidence you change battery, other mech problems come out? )
Wolfy3769 2nd Gear October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 Hi TS, ur is a resale car izzt? just got it in Sep 11 and ur battery die on u...now only early Oct.. Either u really that bad luck or the car had a lot of hidden problems.... i think u better check the alternator too.. cause alternator kapoh, it will fail to charge ur car battery, and end with ur battery without juice..... 5936 1st Gear October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 For me I would have tackle these first: 1) check battery condition 2) terminals 3) hoses and cable around the battery compartment.
Byond 1st Gear October 9, 2011 Share October 9, 2011 Brake Servo vacuum leak. The low voltage is because of engine almost stall, So alternator output voltage no enough due to low rpm. 12v + is battery voltage and then when engine comes back to normal idle speed, the voltage goes back to 14v due to high enough rpm for charging output. hi bro NEed your expertise on this. I just changed my ac fan motor. Had a drive to msia over the weekend. Was travelling about 20 mins, approx 10km, with air con on, and also full load of passengers (with radio on) when i experienced, my head light ficker, then my hand brake signal on, then my radio lights fickers and off and on again... then i felt my engine wanting to stall, then it never stall...just the the radio on and off...then the ac fan is like, kicking in....(while the ac fan kicks in, the engine felt like wanna stall but never stall), then it become normal.... This happens continously for 5 mins...happens about 4 to 5 times... IS this related to brake servo thing you talking about?
Versatile 1st Gear October 10, 2011 Author Share October 10, 2011 Okay, problem resolved. Basically never reset the ECU.. just replace back the stock airbox from the previous open pod installed.
5936 1st Gear October 10, 2011 Share October 10, 2011 so the open pod came after new battery installation?
Versatile 1st Gear October 10, 2011 Author Share October 10, 2011 so the open pod came after new battery installation? The open pod was installed before the battery change. No issues or whatever. The problem only start after battery change.

Vacuum pipe seldom leak but why I suggested TS to look into vacuum leak is because all engine stalling is usually related to air leak causing fuel mixture to be incorrect. The fact that TS now says open pod cause his stalling problem is also a vacuum leak issue as the air filter has a vacuum returned pipe. On open pod this pipe is disconnected and left un-attended. This affect the air fuel ratio as calculated by the ECU. Just like those turbo blow off valve if left to be open also experienced erratic idle to some extend. Understand from mech that the returned pipe was not fix on. Therefore, a leak was occured. However, no issue of stalling before the battery change and that ponder me why after battery change it keeps stalling. And why the ECU cannot read back the previous setup done to the car. Also understand that Swift Sport is pretty sensitive towards such minor problem. As long as there is a minor issue, the performance and fuel consumption will be highly affected. Nonetheless, as long as it solve my stalling issue, i'm fine with it. Gonna keep stock atm as i can't afford taking leaves now and then to fix such minor issue. Really got irritated as i only got this car for less than a month.

Open pod with the vacuum returned pipe (known as breather pipe) opened will cause vacuum leak (as suspected) but since you said battery change was the cause and didn't mentioned about open pod, I wouldn't have pin point breather pipe. If you want to run open pod, just use a wine cork to plug the breather pipe. Just to share my experience with you, open pod makes the car slower Although the intake roar makes the car sound faster

Heard the bcrew airbox w/front grill is impressive on dyno. It's a drop-in btw. Nonetheless, thanks for all the helps offered! Appreciated!

Apart than changing new car battery I only done engine oil and oil filter replacement, no other stuff done on my car. Battery replacement was done with the engine already in switch off condition, probably that is the reason my ECU reset to default and whenever I came to a stop the battery light comes on and engine stalled. My car is Lancer CS3 manual transmission, I was surprise such old car also affected by ECU reset by changing battery in the switch off condition. Previously I also change my car battery in similar condition (i.e. engine switch off) few times but didn't experience such problem. Manage to drove it back to my mechanic with constant stalling whenever the car almost comes to a stop. The mechanic performed a few start and stop with idling for few minutes in between. Finally the timing goes normal and it was ok since Sat until now. ↡ Advertisement
