Worst come to worst I need to go back to the shop and demand to change my lens.
  2. Hi Bros, I encountered car tremble issue whenever i starts to brake followed by completed stop. I just did a battery changed because the battery when dead on me. I noticed the voltage dropped from 14v to 12/11v whenever i brake followed by completed stop. After tremble for few secs, the voltage went up to 14v again. No issues of trembling when moving and the voltage is stable at 14v.. Anyone encountered this before? Could it due to battery not full charged yet or alternator faulty? Please advice.
  3. Hi all, Just curious since I am still inexperience in all these. On Singapore roads given that my ride is front and back brake disc, just how often are the brake pads changed. Cause I realized that driving on local road uses the brakes a lot due to constant traffic light stoppages, though I understand that how often it is changed depends on individual driving style, so hope everyone can share your experience with me so i have a rough idea. Thanks
  4. Just noticed a change in the forum. The previous row allowing one click access back to new post/participated post/latest discussions/most active discussions has now been shrunk to this button which u have to mouse over on a computer and actually click twice on android chrome browser (1st to open the button menu then 2nd to click on what u want to access). How lehcheh is this man. From a one click action, increase to two. And for a NEGLIGIBLE increase in screen real estate. On a computer i don't feel it's that big an issue but it's really irritating while on mobile. Especially in a forum where there are multiple pages and the back button does not bring u back to the main forum page. Our phone screens are not that big. And to have to click 2 small icons in a row... I vote this a thumbs down.
  5. Any bros watching now or have watched this before? Very interesting programme which shows all of these 101 gadgets supposingly changing the world. For example at no. 76, the humble can opener was named as one. Can opener? No you didn't hear wrongly because some how the inventor of cans did not even think of how to open them long time ago. Weird right? The Allies apparently won one of the 3 crucial battles in WWII, the Battle of Alamein, against the Axies mainly because they were armed with US P38s ( no not the German Walther 9mm pistol nor the Lockheed twin-engine fighter) can openers & were able to open their C-rations cans to consume the food inside whereas their opponents could not. Betcha don't know this right? Bros can still watch it as it is still showing now till 12am.
  6. Ever since about a month ago when I encountered my first ever serious radiator leak and calling for towing service, more problems came my way. I have to contend with damaged bushings and squeaking noises, jammed brakes and warped front disc. Within that period I also kanna $150 and 6 demerit points, on a quiet Sunday morning rushing to fetch my parents to my sis baby shower. Spend quite an amount of time in the workshop, and catching up with work. Now the car appears to be OK but the car never felt the same again. It felt muted, quiet or perhaps it is me reaching 40 years of age and struggling with a painful right heel. Is it because I drove too much and stressed the right heel endlessly? Or is it because a couple of months I landed hard on my right leg cos I missed a step going down the stairs? Now I just coast around, feeling apprehensive about the car and the way I drive. Now I just feel like nursing my car till its ripe old age of 20. Dunno how long this me is going to last.
  7. Singaporeans may be used to hot weather, but they are still feeling the heat from the record dry spell that is likely to persist into the first half of March. We look at how some people have changed their daily routine to cope with the weather. 1. “To go” is the way to go Some are choosing to pack their favourite chicken rice or char kway teow home, instead of eating at hawker centres. Hawker Kristen Choong, who runs Ji Ji Wanton Noodle Specialist at Hong Lim Food Centre, said there has been a noticeable increase in the number of people ordering takeaway meals during lunch hour. But she added: “The timing of people coming in during lunch is the same, as lunch hours are fixed.” Marketing manager Jereen Leow, who works in Shenton Way, is among those who are choosing to eat in the comfort of their air-conditioned offices - even though the average temperature for February has been 31.9 deg C, the same as the usual average for the month. Said Ms Leow, 32: “Usually I enjoy going out for lunch as it’s a precious mid-day break to unwind. But now I just buy my food and can’t wait to rush back to the office.” Some eating places with no air-conditioning are also seeing a drop in patrons. A worker at Yi Fan Restaurant in Toa Payoh, which uses only fans, said: “Business this week is about half compared to last week because of the weather.” 2. Cooling drinks are hot right now It seems one man’s bane is another’s boon. Sellers of cold beverages and cooling drinks, such as herbal tea, are getting more customers who are eager to quench their thirst. “There has been about a 10 per cent increase this month in people buying herbal tea due to the hot weather,” said Mr Lee Ming Li, manager of Quan-Li Tonic in Toa Payoh. Added a drinks seller at Chang Cheng Mee Wah coffee shop: “There are definitely more people buying cold drinks now. Business is up about 20 per cent since it started getting so hot.” 3. The not-so-great outdoors The unusually dry weather has deterred some from outdoor activities. Mr Simon Tan, 57, manager of Cycle Max at East Coast Park, said that business has fallen by about 10 per cent compared with January. The bigger crowd blunts the drop in earning on weekends, so business is affected most on weekdays, even in the evenings when it is supposedly cooler. “We've started a promotion - a one-for-one promotion, where you rent one hour and get one hour free,” he said. Still, not everyone is cutting back on exercise. Civil servant Eddie Long, 28, said: “I ensure that I am properly hydrated before heading out for a run, and make a conscious effort to run slightly later in the evenings when it is cooler.” Other than drinking more water, he is also hitting the gym more often. “I have substituted other forms of exercise that can be done indoors to get my cardio fix,” he said. 4. Under the weather - literally Singaporeans have to take extra care of their health in this prolonged dry season. Dr Philip Koh, the medical board chairman of Healthway Medical Group, said that there is usually a 10 per cent spike in people coming down with flu-like symptoms during the Chinese New Year period. But the numbers have not dropped this year despite the end of the festivities, he said. “The dry weather is probably one of the main factors.” The senior family physician, who emphasised the importance of drinking enough water throughout the day, said: “When we are indulging in New Year goodies, we remind ourselves to drink water. But now that visiting is over, we forget to do so.” Similarly, Dr Chua Ee Fang of the Chua Ee Fang Acupuncture Centre in Changi Road, said she has seen about 20 per cent to 30 per cent more patients who were down with colds, sore throats and cough in the past three weeks. The traditional Chinese medicine physician said that these ailments are usually associated with dry weather. “People are still eating the Chinese New Year goodies left over from the holiday and this adds to the ill effects of the dry weather,” she said. To avoid a trip to the doctor, she advised, people should consume drinks like barley, chrysanthemum tea and fruit juice to keep their immune system up. But it is not easy to keep healthy in current conditions, she said. “I am having a bit of a sore throat myself,” she said. 5. Local greens may cost more Prices of local produce may go up if rain does not come soon. According to reports, many farms here said they have had to increase their water consumption significantly because of the dry spell. A spokesman for hydroponics farm Blooms & Greens was quoted by MyPaper as saying that the farm now has to water the plants in its nursery thrice a day instead of twice. On top of that, the farm is also using an automated irrigation system for about an hour every day. As a result, operation costs has jumped by about 20 per cent. Source: http://www.straitstimes.com/breaking-news/singapore/story/dry-spell-singapore-5-ways-life-has-changed-20140227 --------------------- I felt differently..the temperature is still the same as before..it's more windy & less humid because of no rain..with no rain meant that going outdoors is better

  10. I when to change my radiator on Thursday as it was leaking. A few hundred dollars later, it was done. But over the next 2 days, while the radiator water level seems ok, the coolant level has fallen by about 20%. While the coolant level seems to have stabilized. 12. Hi, Anyone had changed their Oxygen Sensor for Nissan Latio? Had sent my car to TC Service centre due to the Engine light up. Was told by the advisor that my oxygen sensor was faulty. Need to be replaced. Cost: $546 exclude GST. But my mileage only 75000km. Now I asked them to reset first. Maybe monitor awhile then decide. Any Nissan Latio owners here facing this problem also???

  16. Usually when we go from Upper Serangoon road or MacPherson Rd to PIE/CTE, we have to enter Bendemeer Rd ERP gantry and make a U turn at Whampoa North... but since early this month, the road has been change to direct right turn into PIE/CTE slip road from these two roads without having to pass the gantry. Is this a good news to motorist or will the LTA move the gantry again?
  17. guys and gals, I encountered this recently. I noticed that for past 2 days, my house phone did not ring at all. I suspect something was wrong and called the house phone number with my HP. It did not ring. ****When I used the house phone to call my HP, to my horror, the number has been changed to another number***** I paid all my bills promptly and have been using this singtel line for the past 5years. Called the Singtel customer service and threatened to report this to the police, in case my original line was criminally used. Immediately the service guy came. He spent some time and inspected all the lines. He found the phone cables "joined up" in the next block of flats. What action can I take against singtel? This is the first time I encountered this sort of thing, cannot believe it.
  18. Abt 6mth ago, sent my 6plus yo car to a w/s in Sin Ming to check sound coming from undercarriage. Was told need to leave car in w/s to do thru check. Before i left, told them to let me know what need to be done and cost so i can decide as dont want to spent much in an old car. After 2 days, w/s told me car ok ready for collection. Was a bit surprised and put off cos they never told me what they did before going ahead. Got a big bill when collected car...replaced one pair front suspensions, front brake pads, amoung other small items. I asked why so ex and was told original parts so not cheap. Anyway did not argue cos told myself will not come back to this place again. What was shocking was while driving home, the exact same sound was still there! Wonder they actually check or not? Call them and was told to bring car back. Left it there another day. When i collect car next day asked why they didnt check properly and what they did this time round. Was told they replace 2 rubber bushes. They didnt charge me this time as i express disappoint after just paid so much. So the actual problem was the rubber bushes then why change brake pads, suspensions, linkage, etc? On my way home again heard some noise but this time soft squicking noise coming from my left front side. Not the same before which was 'clock clock'. Drove back to w/s again and after checking told me its the left drive shaft problem. was told can still drive till both sides problem then change together. Trusted them but its my mistake. After 3 mth the squicky sound get louder and louder. Was busy so just keep driving till abt 6mth later the sound was getting seriously loud. Fearing that the drive shaft may cause more problems and even danger, went to a drive shaft specialist w/s to check. Was surprised when told the drive shaft was not the cos of the noise but the left suspension! was shown oil already leaking out from the left suspension. Went back to the first w/s who replaced the suspensions and was told will settle it for me. Another big disappointment when i was given a big bill for replace the suspensions again. Expressed my disappointment and after reasoning they asked me to pay the 2 new suspensions price. Paid and will never engage them again hoping no further problem from their shoddy works again after this. My qns ... 1) Why consumer has to pay for wrong diagnosis?... replacement of unnecessary parts like brake pads, suspensions, linkage, etc. Is this a way to inflate repair cost since they cannot charge much for a simple repair? 2) They said cannot claim from supplier for the faulty suspension. I can understand since its been so long. But they were the one who make not one but two wrong diagnosis saying it was the draft shaft after all. So how can consumer bear all the responsibility? They are the expert and I trusted them. 3) If w/s replace a part and the part breaks down almost immediately. Shd consumer blame on his bad luck and bears all the cost for another replacement since no warranty for spare parts? 4) How will u react when w/s cannot follow simple instructions eg let you know the costs or parts required before proceeding? Do you think they hv no intention to inform you since its not to their advantage if they do? Or is this a common practice in the car repair industries? 5) Is it right that for this case, they need to change 2 front suspensions again instead of only the left? They just said that cos the suspension always come in a pair so got to replace both at the same time? 6) In the above instance, is it fair that i bear the part costs and workshop absorb the labour cost for the 2nd replacement of suspension? I treat this as a lesson. But what would u do if u were me? I think i need to bear some responsiblities as well. But anything one can do to prevent this?
