  1. Bros and Sis........Coming to a while since I join MCF and would like to share some info. Besides sharing, I also think it is good to give the brothers at this place some salute for serving us over the years as some of us may have know this place. Ho Hup Seng at Blk 7 King George Ave. I know this place since 1996 when I was then driving an old Suzuki Jimny registered in 1979. I have since been to this place many times over the years as the place was run by 3 brothers (Ah Seng, Ah Chai and Ah Li). Even when I do drive a new car, I go there and buy the old man coffee as they serve me well over many years. Place of set up - They are just general spare parts stockist and one of the brother is doing the repair and replacements for people who know them. They have little overheads and they charge really cheap. So for small problems, I still go to them. Besides, if you have more complicated issues, they do recommend you to their affiliated workshops whom are also equipped and reasonable. So for this, I am writing to share as well as a salute for these old brother's whom serve our community well. For our bros and sis whom do know them. Please also comments. I think with years to come, they may just disappear.......Cheers.
  2. https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/broadband-provider-whizcomms-server-breached-by-third-party-customers-information-stolen UPDATED 9 MINS AGO SINGAPORE – Broadband service provider WhizComms notified customers on Wednesday that its Web server had been breached, resulting in a third party stealing their personal information. In an e-mail seen by The Straits Times, the firm said that the data breach affected some customers only, with those affected receiving it. The third party who accessed the firm’s Web server had downloaded scanned images of customers’ personal information, including their NRICs, work permits and tenancy agreements. There was no indication that contact and payment information had been stolen, although the e-mail warned affected customers to look out for any suspicious activities that used their identities. “With scam calls and fraudulent activities already on the rise, we recommend that you continue to be vigilant, especially for any potential signs of identity fraud,” the e-mail added. WhizComms markets itself as having the cheapest 1 Gbps (gigabit per second) plan, which it offers at $32.40 per month for a 24-month contract. Its broadband service is powered by Singtel. It did not disclose the number of people affected, nor did it say when it first detected the breach. It said that the unauthorised access had already been contained, and it is working with the police, the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) and the Infocomm Media Development Authority. It added that it was strengthening its safeguards to prevent a reoccurrence of such incidents. The Straits Times has contacted WhizComms for more information. Meanwhile, a PDPC spokesman said the commission has been notified of the incident and is investigating.

  4. I like to read some news websites or news apps when I'm eating lunch or dinner at work. Bloomberg now switch to subscription format so that's a big loss. Today online and CNA still suffice for local news. My fb has scmp feed which is not bad as well for China centric articles. Other than BBC, any other free news websites or apps that you guys read? General Financial news recommendations are also welcome. Im not a fan of twitter unfortunately. So I would prefer other apps or websites

  7. Hi , just to find out from you bros how the system above actual works . Recently my wife car kena speeding 20km/hr as letter of offense already mail to our address but upon check through the system with her car plate , no offense was compounded which makes me doubt the accuracy of the system itself. When driver screen their car plate thru eddies and it shows no offense was compounded , don't be too happy yet . Was told that if you suspect your car was summoned like kena speed cam at the roadside , can driver rely EDDIES to have the updates whether car kena speeding ??
  8. This is really bad.... http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/sin...1244331/1/.html even channelnewsasia reported the story. Bottomline is PAP Town councils SOLD their computer system for $140000 to aim and promised to Pay Aim a Monthly Fee of $785 per town council to use their software. There are so many red flags that I am really worried for Singapore 1) There is only ONE BIDDER in the entire tender, Quote from CNA "Dr Teo said although five companies collected the tender agreement, the sole bid was submitted by AIM, a company fully owned by the P A P. " 2) sold for $140 000? what are they smoking? how much did they spend to develop that software? My brother has a startup that makes encryption software for cloud computing and I tell you, $140k is not going last very long. 3) $785 monthly fee per TC? with 14 PAP TCs that works out to $131880 a year! Sold their software for $140k and lease it back at $132k a year??? This is totally ridiculous. 4) How many Employees does Aim has? What is their contact number? They don't even have an address. Did they do ANYTHING at all? This is really bad... if PAP does not get to the bottom of this....

  13. In case you don't know, if you go to google maps, you can turn on the Traffic layer in the upper right corner. But my question is: is it good? What are your experience with it? For me....don't seem to be very accurate. Also, since I don't know how it gets its data, I'm naturally suspicious of it...

  17. If you see a guy (especially Indian) who rides a motorbike with a bloody hand knocking on your window demanding you to stop and asking for tissue paper to clean the blood when you are driving a car, remember DO NOT stop the car at all. Even if he damages your car or holds the side mirrors tightly, DO NOT stop the car but drive directly to the nearest police station. This kind of criminal tactics have been reported in about 40 cases in Seremban, K. Lumpur, Shah Alam, P.Jaya and Klang Town police stations (actually around the whole country). These guys are mainly Indian gangsters, They work in a group and dare to commit this crime even in crowded areas where nobody will dare to stop the car to help you. The main purpose of this dirty tactic is to rob you and/ or even commit rape if you are female driver driving alone. Please forward this message to the people you care about. 22. I WAS SHOCKED TO READ THIS: Passport records available on line I have just received an e-mail stating that the personal information in our passports are now available online due to the move for globalized screening of entries and exits of people in most, if not all countries. These information have been accessed through the Schengen, American, Australian and Asian database. It is scary that they are doing this now. It does not only invade our privacy, but exposes us to danger, if these information land on the wrong hands. The matter that gives me a fright is that there is no strict form of security to access the site. One only needs to type his name and country of citizenship and the passport ' s identification page displays. I myself tried to search and found my passport and was totally stunned to see it. Please copy and paste the below link. http://www.scrolllock.nl/passport/
