Just called Apple. Surpricingly, no need to wait.

First, press 1 for English. Then, press 1 for ipod, 2 for iphone, 3 for ipad and 4 for others.

After press 2, immediately a gentleman answered the call.

He offer to check my iMac settings online but as I am in the office, cannot. So, he asked me to try turn off the firewall.

If still fail, then use a Windows PC to do the upgrade to iOS5. Then, bring back to my iMac to sync back my apps and data.

For the benefits of others, when you want to upgrade the iOS, you must sync or backup your data in your iPhone.

The installation of iOS5 will erase everything in your phone, other than the contacts and a few other things.

U can google the error msg.

I had this before when i changed my host file to accomodate a "ahem" version of adobe photoshop.

The imessage works on my iPhone 4, but it does not work on my iPad2. After typing the message, I could not sent the msg out, as the "Send" button is not functioning. Please advise.

the ios upgrade process will automatically backup your phone

Last night, I managed to upgrade to iOS5.

Do not get mislead by the automatic backup just before the upgrade.

The backup only backs up your contact, notes, sms and a few other things. For sure, apps, song, pictures are not backup. (Or else it will take too long!)

What I did was, to sync my iPhone again with my iMac.

When done, connect my iPhone to another PC with iTunes 10.5. My iTunes there is empty.

Once the usb driver is installed, iTunes will pop up a screen if we want to update to iOS5.

It will also warn you of wiping off all your data.

Just proceed. It will start to backup and then wipe the iPhone. Reboot and start with the installation. iTunes call it restoring... which can be confusing.

When iPhone comes back to life, disconnect from the PC and connect it to my iMac.

Immediately, iTunes will activate restoring from Backup...

When done, everything is back to the same except the iOS now is 5.

This is the workaround given from Apple Support. If the 2nd PC also fail, they suggest to use another network.

Anyone tried sync using WIFI yet? Tried but failed as iPhone could not see my PC.

Followed what's in iTunes Help but still do not work. Once I unplugged my iPhone, my device disappeared from iTunes despite Help mentioned otherwise.

Now still stuck at using cable to sync..... <_<
