Carpet4cars Neutral Newbie May 17, 2013 Share May 17, 2013 (edited) Click here for professional adv on jump starters http://www.speedcharge.co.uk/booster-packs/ You happen to know who is selling? Edited May 17, 2013 by Carpet4cars
Yeobh 4th Gear May 18, 2013 Share May 18, 2013 (edited) Schumacher is a leading maker of battery chargers in US. Their cheapest professional battery boost jumper set is about 6 times the price of a cheap set you get from hardware store. If your needs are indoor where there is supply of 220volt 1ph 50hz supply, what you need is a portable battery charger with boost jump start feature. Kklee 6th Gear May 18, 2013 Share May 18, 2013 Saw this JumpStarter in Groupon.....any use??? http://www.groupon.sg/deals/shopping/group...mpaign=alldeals I use it for other uses including jump start. One note about jump start, for my car, the failure most probably is due to the "battery water" drying out. Once I did a jump start, the battery voltage fluctuates wildly from, IIRC, 11v to 16v while driving.
Yeobh 4th Gear May 18, 2013 Share May 18, 2013 (edited) There are two possibilities why your battery voltage range from 11 to 16 volt. Either yr battery is heavily sulphated or yr alternator regulator is not working properly ( loose battery terminal or ground connection creat high resistance and may also the cause of high voltage). The loss of battery water is caused by high charging temp/voltage Edited May 18, 2013 by Yeobh

Finobaby Neutral Newbie May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 from what I remember, you CANNOT jumpstart a car with electronic...start or smth i don't really remember. Bcos my car dead batt once and I jump started it only to blow out the computer. lucky the tow truck fler told me NOT to tell the people at the workshop I jumpstarted, otherwise the charge me for repairs
Yeobh 4th Gear May 29, 2013 Share May 29, 2013 Yr battery is either complete dead , having internal short or below 30% charge. Before jump start it's best to check the voltage and then allow the recuse battery to charge the battery up to safe voltage not lower than 9volt ( rule of thumb) depending on engine capacity , petrol or diesel. Chevrolet Optra = High Charging Voltage I normally advise others not to be too helpful in jump starting. I am still trying to figure out what will happen if my car send over 16V to the car with dead battery. Edited June 1, 2013 by Kklee
Fastnfurious75 Neutral Newbie June 30, 2013 Share June 30, 2013 I have been jumpstarting my car as often as I can remember and changes 3 battery and still has problem. The carshop which sold me those gadgets blame me and other factors but not those items i installed from them. I sent my car to check the alternator and no alternator problem. So the possible root problem might be electrical leak or short circuit. I have since remove all those aftermarket gadgets and at least for time being, no further problem. I advised people not to buy aftermarket products such as power charger, car keyless system etc. Experienced people will tell you it is b-------t! When you start adding third party stuffs, you risked draining the battery flat. Your standard parasitic current instead of below 80 mA is now much higher. And if you have one of those totally keyless entry, when your battery go flat, you don't have a key to unlock the car to change battery or jump start. You'll have to call a locksmith every time that happens.

But strange I can on and off my alarm to allow me access the car. Heard that my keyless car alarm module got internal battery that can last for quite sometime. Just call those mobile battery installer and within an hr, my problem solved.
Yeobh 4th Gear July 1, 2013 Share July 1, 2013 Your keyless alarm system is working on only 5 to 9 volt system. Battery that is down to 12volt will not be able to crank the engine over.

Forget n it becomes useless in an emergency. Cannot say until like dat leh. At least it is small and portable. U can charge it inside the car if you want. Or plug it permanently in the car charger and if one day suay suay ur car battery die, you can use. Worst come to worst, Solar charge it in the car lor. This battery is small and not like those big size heavy duty one which also need to be charge and cannot put in your car as it is too big. If not, carry your battery and go home charge, which I think most ppl dun want. This small jump start batery (with handphone, laptop 19V charging capability too) at least can put in the car and give u some hope. It indicate that do not jump start the car if the jump start battery is left with 3 bars. Scenario 1. If car die at home or in office, and the jump start battery no battery, go back to home or office to charge, the come down jump start. If cannot wait, call for mobile battery replacement service lor. 2. If car die on the road side, pray hard your jump start battery have more than 3 bars lor.
