After wearing leather for so long, i am getting tired of changing watches for different activities on the same day. I am so OCD that i even bring 2 or 3 watches out with me, just in case i need to switch them for the occasion, whether i roll up or down my sleeves, matching colours of my strap, case material and accessories, shoes, etc. I am looking for a steel bracelet watch for daily wear, kitchen cooking, swimming, showering, BBQ on the weekends (you know, throttle2's wiping table/washing car kind of watch) and yet turn up at social functions, meetings, office, etc with the same watch and still look presentable, but I can't decide. Have tried all in the shop, that is why it is so hard to decide cos i like each and every one. 1) Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph in black dial and bracelet (42mm case) 2) AP Royal Oak Chronograph, black dial, steel, bracelet (40mm case) 2a) AP Royal Oak Chronograph, white dial, steel, bracelet (40mm) 3) Rolex DSSD 4) Rolex 116610 LV green ceramic sub HULK 5) Rolex Daytona steel, black dial Right now my heart says 1), head says 4) or 5). Heart likes 5) the least as it looked pretty unimpressive on my wrist. 2) and 3) are "old flames", kinda always had my eye on them but never acted on the impulse. Also, worried about the puny bracelet on the DSSD as the watch felt "unbalanced". Wish i can buy them all on a whim but i am not as rich as throttle2. Bro, out of your list, I would say go for the DSSD. except, you are absolutely right about the puny wrist effect. Personally I would take an APROO black themes steel (but not so sure it can take that kind of abuse) The Daytona is good but as you know, it is shiny finish so it gets scratches way too easily. It would be the choice only if you dont mind those scratches which are unavoidable as a tool watch. It is tried and tested as a tool watch. Forget about the Hulk, it's so so wannabe (trendy) kind of watch. the best bump around, never say die toolwatch, would simply be a standard Subdate, a standard seadweller or a standard GMT master. Go for the newer ceramic version of the GMT2 if you prefer an updated look, its the best looking of the new series of Rolexes now. However, and I know you already know that, such rolexes are simply a dime a dozen and just about every young upstart in the street would be wearing one. Thats one reason why I also prefer the older series or vintage ones. Guess what, I just painted my balcony walls and wash the garden walls wearing my ExplorerII ....lucky didnt kena paint..haha And............... do you have to add that last sentence, especially when you KNOW you are richer than me? Throttle2 Supersonic December 31, 2011 Share December 31, 2011 (edited) I swop my daytona to rubber strap so it can be more "tool" and it looks pretty cool too.
