Sosaria Twincharged January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 I think this list of countries are friendly, but only when "white" expats are considered. Nowadays, asians are not so welcomed anymore in australia, and even nz, especially in city area, is getting less friendly. South Africa "friendly"...?? Chances of becoming crime victim there, very high.

Dfx16 6th Gear January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 Abt NZ .. I had spend 7 mtns living with the local yrs back in Wellington In general they were friendly people but they dont like vietnamese Problem is they can diff between chinese and viet Overall the "Y" generation are racist but the rest is quite ok and helpful Personally i think Aust is the worst among the 3 Friends got teased, bullied and there's also asian night (night spot) separating the asian and the white to prevent conflict
Darryn Turbocharged January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 darryn you are from NZ how is it like there? I know australia can be very racist. How does NZ compare? I have never lived in Australia, so whatever I say here is to be taken with a pinch of salt (or more likely a whole handful) Some parts of Australia are very racist - so you should pick you area carefully. New Zealand is not devoid of racism. Bearing in mind that my wife is Chinese, and lived in New Zealand for around 10 years. She did experience racism. We lived there together for 4 years after first getting married. In those four years I only saw one instance of "hate" on the streets, and that was a low level nasty comment as a car drove by. On the whole, New Zealand is pretty tolerant (at least where I come from down in Christchurch) What would "incite" people more than anything else would be (IMHO) jealousy -= seeing the young 21 or 22 year old student driving a $40k car, something that most New Zealand kids would never dream of while studying - this sort of behaviour would naturallly make someone a target. The other area is behaviour that came off as "rude" would get people into trouble or a "scolding" which would come across as racism, when really it was an admonishment to act more in vein to the standards of behaviour expected in New Zealand. Its possibly a worldwide trends, East Asians like to live in the big cities. In the big city, you see a lot of them, but the<y are hardly in the small towns, unless they open restaurant or takeaway. Thats my observation from my limited travel & life abroad. Also alot East Asian doesn Edited January 13, 2012 by Kiadaw

Kiadaw 6th Gear January 13, 2012 Share January 13, 2012 That's a pretty good view - afterall, if you want to emigrate there it's because you like the lifestyle and the way people treat each other right? You are right, if you wanted to live in your little own world, then of course its hard. Its true that some people takes a while to warm up, especially with a culture they misundestood or have little info, but if you show you a nice & honest chap, most people will eventually warm up to you. Also, we Singaporeans like to say this and this country people are racist, but I think Singapore is not better (or even worst). Many people look down & do not have respect on Foriegn workers or even locals that do ought jobs like in constructions & cleaning. We tends to have multiple standards for different people. See 'face' before we think how we should speak to them. Many people here are also bad employers for maids, & treat them badly.
