1.6litre

Max Power (bhp): 125 @ 6,500 rpm

WTF!!!!! HOW MANY YEARS ALREADY STILL 125 BHP FROM A 1.6?!?!?!

Relative to Honda Civic current gen (released in 2006), the improvement is ZERO

the improvement is not zero, it is in fact negative. The current version looks at least more cohesive and fits the impression of a CIVIC (Futuristic in design, Fast in muscles, Fun in handling). The latest version looks dull on the outside and inside too.

to be honest, the current civic is hard to beat.

the way to improve it will be to add in a 1.6TFSI (u get the gist) engine.

It is not easy to wring more horse power out of a small engine block especially when you need to grapple with ever stricter emission standards AND you die die refuse to apply force induction. Unless they try to incorporate other technologies like direct fuel injection, it is very hard to beat what it has now.

Wah Lau. My 8th gen Civic definitely looks more sporty and speedy with the tail fin.

No way am I going to upgrade to this 9th gen. By the way, it looks as if out of Tom Yam?

6 years. All I need is maybe 5 more bhp to hit 130?

We are talking about highly intelligent Honda engineers who are king of engine making.

I went by the showroom to take a look since I was in the vicinity.

The exterior looks grew on me after a while. My gen 8 civic looks a bit dated because the trend now in car design is angular lines. Well, I won't say it is a prettier car overall but more keeping with the times.

The problem is with the interior. It looks smaller inside. I don't know why. The actual space is pretty much the same. And the roofline is shorter so I can't sit upright at the backseat any more. I consider the interior a bit of a regression. It doesn't look as good or well put together as the gen 8 civic.

It just doesn't do it for me. But having said that though, if Cat A COE continues its steady decline, who knows - I may end up with a gen 9 civic; despite its flaws, I still find it better than the Altis, which is the only other choice for my family car.

One thing i can think of is if Honda engineers tweak the current engine block design to allow for a more aggressive port angle to allow the engine to breathe better. Confirm the horsepower rating will go up. Unlikely they will do that for it will result in an escalation of manufacturing cost(s).

I have a TFSI engine in my Audi. I was almost set on getting the ford Fiesta, which incidently have 125hp from a 1.6l engine as well, then went to just 'have a look' at the Audi as my final stop. Test drive the car on Friday, & went on to sign the paper the following week. For once, the hype of VAG engines (which won multiple awards) is real. I did not even try hard, but it return really good FC, & I can run with run of the mill 95 petrol grade..

I can drive hard (average 140km) for hours, & the bonnet is still ice cold. Even this morning, there was ice on my bonnet, 2ominutres drive to my office, the ice is still there.

Unbelieveable from a Turbo engine. My last car, you can cook an egg on the bonnet after 20min of drive, even when I drive soft (100km max) on SG roads.. Maybe unfair comparison, as I drive in Subzero or near condition sinmce I got the car. Will know how hot it will get in the summer.

I think Turboed charge small cc engine & maybe diesel power is the way to go for the near future for small to mid size family car.
