SINGAPORE - The multimillion-dollar Pagani Huayra supercar owned by beleaguered businessman Ng Yu Zhi was among the $100 million worth of assets seized by the Commercial Affairs Department (CAD), The Straits Times understands. Ng, the 33-year-old director of Envy Asset Management and Envy Global Trading, was charged last week with two counts of cheating fund management firm Envysion Wealth Management and its chief executive, Ms Shim Wai Han, of at least $48 million. Ng also faces two charges of being a party to his two firms, which were operated for fraudulent purposes. At least $1 billion is believed to have been invested with Ng's two firms to purportedly finance nickel trading, making this one of the largest financial fraud cases in Singapore. Industry sources valued Ng's Pagani Huayra - the only one in Singapore - at between $7 million and $8 million. A brand new one would cost about $12 million. ST understands that the car was previously owned by Mr Steven Goh, chief executive of Ossia International. The rare Italian supercar, which was first registered in 2017, was showcased at Envy Motors' showroom, according to the company's Facebook post in October 2019. Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (Acra) records showed Ng as a director of the car dealership from 2018. He was a shareholder of Envy Motors from May 22, 2018, to Oct 30, 2019. Acra records also showed that Ng was involved in Swag EV, which deals with electric scooters, where Ms Shim of Envysion Wealth is also a director. Ng ceased his directorship with Swag EV earlier this month. ST understands that Ng's Porsche 911 GT3 was also seized. Ng's Ferrari 488 Pista Spider and a Toyota Lexus LS500, which came with one of the most sought-after vehicle number plates, S11T, had been sold. A used car dealer who asked not to be named confirmed that he had bought the Toyota Lexus and the vehicle number plate. Ng had apparently paid several hundred thousands of dollars for the car and number plate from the same dealer previously.

Sharing this DIY on how I replaced my W212 left side mirror actuator. The left mirror will tilt down when i reverse my car, but recently it has been making strange noise, I knew one of the micro motors must have gone bad, I could buy a micro motor from taobao to fix it, but upon removing the refector , I realised that the actuator assembly screw is bad, so i decided to replace the entire actuator unit instead. The micro motor should look like this, it should be on a plastic worm gear, not the one as shown. I replaced it on my W211 before and it costed me less than $10 from taobao. These are the simple tools I need. a set of Torx screw drivers and a platic pryer. bought this from Surpass, Mr Lim, jiang zua ji. for $195.00 first, I removed the reflector using the plastic pryer. The reflector is snapped onto the actuator with several snap-on clips , do it gently to avoid damaging the clips. The reflector has two heater wires on it, be careful not to stretch the wires . I did not detach the wires because they did not cause any obstruction to my work. you can see a few of the snap-on clips at the back of thereflector. once the reflector is removed, I could see the three screws that mount the actuator onto the casing, I removed the screws and the actuator came out naturally. there is a cable connected to the actuator, disconnct the cable gently. Reverse the same process, and job is done. Maybe 15 min job? Now i am a happy man, no new car but i have a new actuator, very silence.

1. A motor insurance may be cheap, eg. DirectAsia (this is my current plan after I've switched from AAS available insurance plans since 2+ years ago). However, I have recently been told that when it comes to claims, there seems to be fineprints that void certain claims, eg. windscreen. 2. My NCD is 50% discount and I am thinking thrice now about renewing with DirectAsia - because in case I have claims, I don't want to be caught by it's fineprints. 3. This survey is to crowdsource motor insurance claim experiences from fellow forumers who have had at least 1 claim and would appreciate if you can reply by stating these information: (a) Name of Insurance company (and the motor plan if you recall, if not nevermind) (b) Give a score of between -10 to +10 (where the extreme -10 is no claim despite your situation being seemingly a valid claim, and +10 if your claim process is a smooth and quick claim with bare minimum fuss) © Optional: Which year? (if you remember) (d) Optional: You may also choose to elaborate your score, esp. if it's very negative or very positive - optional. 4. While a few data points may not be reliable, however if we have a lot of data points (eg. 100 people claiming terrible experiences with company XXX, or excellent experiences with AAA, then we know what is more probable). 5. Here we go, this is a list of 44 motor insurance companies listed in one motoring: 1 Action Garage Pte Ltd Able Insurance Brokers Pte Ltd AB Lim & Sons Enterprises Aik Chong Insurance Agency All Solutions AMA Insurance Agency Anika Insurance Brokers & Consultants Pte Ltd Automobile Association of Singapore AXA Insurance Singapore Pte Ltd Beng Soon Holdings Pte Ltd BMC Insurance Agencies Pte Ltd Chartis Singapore Insurance Pte Ltd Cowell Insurance Pte Ltd Daglen Insurance Agency Dickson Auto Agency Direct Asia.com Esse Insurance Agency ETS Insurance Agency Far Eastern Insurance Agency Gideon Insurance Agencies Pte Ltd GSC Auto Services Pte Ltd High Power Enterprise Insline Insurance Agency Insure2give Pte. SINGAPORE - A fire broke out at a vehicle workshop along Defu Lane 12, near Bartley Road East, on Friday evening. No injuries were reported. The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said in a Facebook post on Friday it was alerted to a blaze at 53 Defu Lane 12 at about 6.40pm. It added the fire involved multiple vehicles parked within the premises, and the area affected by the fire covered about 10 metres by 10 metres. It said: “SCDF firefighters deployed three water jets to contain and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring units. The fire was extinguished in about an hour.” Investigations are ongoing. When The Straits Times arrived at the scene, firefighters were dousing water over large blackened trucks parked outside a unit bearing a sign that read Yong Sing Motor Works. Its director, Mr Sim Seng Cheng, 61, told the media in Mandarin that at about 5pm a supervisor called to tell him a fire had broken out there with 20 employees inside. He was told one of the workers was spray-painting a van when a nearby motor exploded. The motor was in a grilled enclosure and the workers were unable to get close to it. While some workers tried to douse the blaze through the grill, with a fire extinguisher, the other workers drove the vehicles out of the workshop. But the fire could not be put out. An association member at the neighbouring Hong San Temple, who declined to be named, said he heard a loud boom at about 6.30pm while he was watching the World Cup match between Wales and Iran with nine others. The 68-year-old said: “There were already many people gathering around outside. We heard three or four more explosions that made us jump.” He added he saw four or five workshop employees running and shouting. He described the flames as reaching higher than a three-storey building next to the temple when an SCDF fire engine arrived. Mr Sim said Yong Sing was moving to a nearby workshop at Block 8 Defu South Street and will continue operating from there. He said: “I don’t have any details on the compensation yet. But I’m just glad no one was hurt. “Life is more important than business. If someone had lost his life, I wouldn’t know how to tell his loved ones.” https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/fire-breaks-out-at-defu-lane-no-injuries-reported-scdf https://www.facebook.com/SCDFpage

Unmarked Mazda 3 Traffic Police car nabs Malaysian bike
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Now this is one heartening sight! Our local police force is working hard to catch bad-behaving vehicles on our roads! Seen on SG Road Vigilante is this video of an unmarked Traffic Police vehicle zooming up fast on the AYE towards Tuas to catch a motorbike on 13th of December 2020. We can't really see why the bike was being stopped but according to the source, it is a Malaysian-registered bike with a mini rear number plate. While having such a number plate is an offence in our sunny island, we thought the police might also be catching the biker for a speeding offence or having a loud exhaust. As for the rest of us, we now know when you see a white Mazda 3, it might not be a Private Hire Vehicle but an Unmarked Traffic Police car! -
Rider makes a pretty sweet proposal in the middle of the MCE!
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Spotted somewhere on the many pages of Facebook is a post where a motorcyclist managed to do a proposal with the help of his mates on the road. Done somewhere in our MCE tunnel, Hasan Sanny and his wife-to-be were supposed to be married on the 29th of Aug 2020. However due to the pandemic, the wedding had to be postponed. Not wanting to let that defeat him, the motorcyclist got his friends who then rode on 3 different bikes and wore t-shirts with the words "Marry Me ?" to carry out the proposal. Did he managed to get his girl of his dream? Watch the video here and see for yourself! -
Malaysian police officer gives motorcyclist a good hard kick!
chitchatboy posted a blog entry in MyAutoBlog
Remember the time when a video of an LTA enforcement officer that stopped an offending PMD rider by giving the rider a good kick, causing the offender to fall off his PMD? Now, something similar is going viral in Malaysia. According to The Star, the incident happened in Sibu, a town in Sarawak, Malaysia where two police officers were conducting a spot check at Jalan Temple around noon. A motorcyclist that was approaching the road block decided to turn around to avoid them but failed to do so when one of the officers acted quickly by giving the biker a martial art-style kick. In the report, Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit explained that the offender works at the a hotel nearby and has several offences to his name. Other than not having a driving license and having a modified bike, its road tax has also expired and it was not covered under any insurance too. 46687388_923477234821643_832602979362855331_n.mp4 -

one month can take back 6k to 8k for car sales. not bad. the toyota brand alrdy sells for itself SINGAPORE - In what may be another sign that the motor trade is bracing for a tailspin, Toyota agent Borneo Motors is planning to cut commissions paid to its sales staff - the first time it is doing so. According to sales executives who spoke on condition of anonymity, the Inchcape company is proposing to cut commissions by $100 to $350 per car. At the same time, it is looking to raise sales targets. "Easily, our monthly income will fall by $2,000," said one salesman, noting that sales staff's income averaged between $6,000 and $8,000 a month. Another said the cut was supposed to have been taken effect last month, but "it did not". The Straits Times understands this is because of the union, which has asked the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) to intervene. An MOM spokesman said the ministry has "received a request from the Singapore Manual & Mercantile Workers' Union to conciliate a dispute involving its sales consultant members and Borneo Motors (Singapore) Pte Ltd over a proposed cut in commission and an increase in sales quota". "The conciliation process is ongoing," the spokesman added. "Both union and Borneo Motors' management are engaging actively in the conciliation process. Progress has been made on some issues but more work needs to be done on remaining issues where parties' positions differ." Borneo Motors' managing director Jasmmine Wong said: "We are in the midst of discussions which we have every two years. We have up to the end of the year to reach a conclusion. Nothing has been decided." Ms Wong - part of a new management team which replaced several veterans laid off two years ago - pointed out that the sales staff wanted "higher commissions and lower targets". She said this was not feasible in a market which is expected to shrink over the next two years on account of smaller certificate of entitlement quotas. On Monday (May 6), Nissan agent Tan Chong Motor decided to close its Bukit Timah showroom because of a shrinking number of walk-in customers. "My priority is to keep jobs," Ms Wong said. She added that the company had also put in a system which generates leads for its sales staff, as well as a car delivery division to relieve sales staff from non-sales duties. But a sales veteran said: "If the company is losing money, then we understand. But that is not the situation, and in any case, it is unfair to target sales staff alone." Borneo remains one of UK-listed Inchcape's top profit generators. Last year, it attained Toyota's Triple Crown award for industry-leading sales in passenger vehicle, commercial vehicle and taxi sales. According to two previous managing directors, Borneo has not had a sales commission cut before.

Over 30 MCF members with their loved ones arrived at the Subaru showroom in Leng Kee last Saturday, in the latest edition of MCF Hangout in partnership with Motul and Subaru. The hangout with French lubricant brand Motul and Subaru isn’t a random occurrence. Motul and Motor Image, exclusive distributor of Subaru cars in Singapore, has held a partnership for many years. In 2008, Motul, along with Motor Image Rally Team (MIRT) developed the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) Team Racing Oil. 100% fully synthetic, the APRC Team Racing Oil is specially made for MIRT’s cars racing in hot Asian climates. Just earlier this year, Motul and Motor Image announced that it will supply an exclusive line of lubricant products to its customers. Developed in Japan, the new Subaru engine oils by Motul are specially tailored for the brand’s boxer engines. MCF members also got a chance to learn more about Subaru’s range of cars on offer, as well as Subaru’s EyeSight safety assistance systems at the event, too. Member of the Editorial team at sgCarMart, Idris Talib, shared his experience using Motul’s 5W-30 engine oil for his Subaru Forester XT after a service at Motor Image. Idris mentioned that he was previously running 5W-40 oil, based on recommendations from friends and workshop owners. “Many have told me to use 5W-40, as turbocharged engines run hotter and require thicker oil. But upon using Motul and Subaru’s 5W-30 offering, I was getting better performance, improved fuel consumption and never had issues with engine oil temperatures” At the event, Senior Manager - Regional Product Planning at Motor Image Enterprises Pte Ltd, David Ting, shared more on the benefits and abilities of EyeSight Technology. He also answered questions on the technology from MCF members. EyeSight’s Driver Assist Technology includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Braking and Throttle Management, as well as Lane Departure Warning. According to David, these systems can function to alert and mitigate collisions from speeds as slow as 1km/h, up to a top speed of 200km/h. After the sharing session, MCF members also had a chance to experience the safety assistance systems at work with a live demonstration, using a Subaru Forester equipped with EyeSight. Later in the day, MCF members were also treated to a lucky draw session, where three members walked away with limited edition Subaru WRX STI collectible models worth $50.

Was rear ended. Clear-cut fault of the party as he did not stop and rammed into my vehicle. Did not experience any noticeable injury then. Took photos and exchanged contacr. Wanted to keep it fuss free and private settle as the other party admitted full liability. Reported to my insurance. Was told to bring car to any approved or preferred workshop with the Accident Report to process with the accident repair. Today I am beginning to feel effects of whiplash. Havent seen a doctor yet. If medical is included with vehicle repair, I dun think can private settle as sum will be too big. I am not familiar with accident claim. I heard workshop can do medical claims for the customer? I just want some party to arrange all these for me. Also my car has been treated with 9H ceramic coating. After rear is repaired/replaced/sprayed, will recoating be included in repair? Can someone recommend a workshop that can take care of this?

The Motor Traders Association could soon be the Minor Traders Association if the number of members keeps falling. The Motor Traders Association of Singapore (MTA) is a grouping of new car distributors and some commercial vehicle dealers. Its membership has been sliding over the years and the latest to leave its fold is Borneo Motors Singapore (BMS) - the distributor of Toyota, Lexus and Hino - leaving it with 26 members. With BMS's exit at the end of this month, Singapore's top three brands - Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Toyota, in that order - will not be part of the MTA. Critics now question how MTA can continue to be relevant. "MTA is supposed to be the voice of new car sellers. What is the point if it does not represent the majority of the industry," asked the director of a brand who left MTA a few years ago. Based on last year's total vehicle sales of 34,090 units, MTA members accounted for 46 per cent of total market share (this number is made up of 22,472 new cars, 8,128 commercial vehicles and 3,490 taxis). If BMS sales are excluded, this proportion drops to 32 per cent, or barely a third of the market. Volkswagen will then be the biggest brand left in MTA. Last year, VW was Singapore's No 4 make. BMS declined to comment when contacted. But there is speculation that its departure is largely symbolic, one that signals its displeasure with the association. "The annual membership fee is only $1,500, so it's definitely not about the money," said the head of a luxury dealership. "It is probably to make it clear that they do not see the value of MTA membership." In recent months, some complaints about the MTA included how it appears to champion the causes of only its committee members, and the inability to present members' views and appeals to the government, especially after the recent radical changes to the motor trade, such as the loan curbs and certificate of entitlement tweaks. The luxury dealership head recalled that when the vehicle financing restrictions were introduced last year in February, the Singapore Vehicles Traders Association, or SVTA, whose members are mainly used car dealers, immediately met to craft an appeal to the government. The result was the lifting of loan curbs for 60 days to allow members to clear their stocks of second-hand vehicles. But, according to the luxury dealership head, the MTA was reluctant to intercede when approached by some members for help to lobby the government to soften the impact of the loan curbs. Senior MTA committee members could not be contacted for their views. But one industry veteran defended the MTA. "To be fair, it does not have an easy time," he said, explaining that this is because MTA members have conflicting interests. "It is difficult to function as a cohesive organisation because not every brand is impacted by the same issues, such as engine output or emissions," he added. "So there is no unified voice, unlike used car dealers who do not have brand loyalty and can talk about common problems such as policy and financing as a group."
