CB Road hoggers

As a matter of fact, there was noone behind me, and I was travelling much faster than other traffic (I was overtaking everything on the middle lane at a rapid rate). But if I had slowed down or if someone faster had appeared behind me, I would surely have filtered back into the middle lane without delay.

It's not that noone should be in the right lane. It's that noone should *block* someone faster by being in the right lane. Meaning that if someone faster comes up in the right lane, give way with alacrity (and a signal for safety). This applies regardless of the speed, or the legality of the speed. It doesn't matter how fast *you're* going, or how fast *you* think the other driver *should* be going. Someone's catching up to you on the right lane, signal and move over. End of story. This is the message that roadhoggers seem incapable of getting through their rather thick skulls.

Nice try, though. :D

It is also poor form to remain in the right lane and match the speed of the middle lane even if there's no traffic behind one on the right lane. It's only if you're actively overtaking middle lane traffic that you remain eligible to drive on the right lane. And when I say "actively overtaking", I mean doing so with purpose, maintaining at least +20km/hr over the traffic in the middle lane so that you pass them quickly rather than what lots of people seem to love doing - maintaining something like +3km/hr and craaaawling past the middle lane traffic. In that circumstance, they might as well keep to the middle lane. In any case, once one is done overtaking, and wishes to slow down, one should move back to the slower lane.

well said..but sadly in reality not much good drivers are found..most seemed to be very focused on getting ahead of other cars instead of driving properly

Thanks. :D I'm not fixated on getting ahead of reasonably driven cars except when I'm in something of a hurry. On the whole, I'd rather be behind a bad driver (a good distance behind) rather than ahead of one. Because this way, I get to control the situation (I'm not at his mercy). The other important consideration is that my engine is at my back, so if an idiot rear-ends me, it will be a huge heartache for me (not to mention a huge hole in said idiot's pocket and insurance [;)] ).

The worst place to kena a CB road hogger would be KPE I guess.

This morn from SK to City via KPE. Even before enter the tunnel, the CB road hogger slowed down to 80kmh and 70kmh based on the signs (on first lane). [:|]

This was even thou he was like >5 car lengths from the nearest car in front and prior to entering the tunnel, slow down to 60kmh before picking up to 70kmh.

Every cam location, he will slow down to 60kmh before picking up to 70kmh after the each cam. [hur]

Silly CB road hogger, metallic blue ford focus sedan (SINGAPORE 6989 RACING)!

Whoever meets him in the morning, pls overtake, undertake at every chance!

Who knows where he come from ah? SK? Punggol? or from Tampines Pasir Ris or the far north AMK, Yishun??

Today I was driving along AYE. A Malaysian Volvo in the right lane in front of me. Signal right briefly, and the guy moved over within 30 sec. Put up my hand as I passed to thank him.

Next in line was a Sg teksi. Did the same thing, no response. Flash light, no response.

Just a typical day, I guess. Looks like our "developed" country citizens need to do a little more "developing" to reach MY standards.

I always kena taxi uncle.

Road hog and refused to give way even though i hi-lite them.

Most times they were too engrossed talking to their passengers as if their

taxi company owns Sg roads.

I would not be too surprised if that driver has no idea what is your signal about [shakehead]

Hmm.. from my observation you do see this "impossibility" turning into reality in KPE tunnel. Vehicles in all three lanes commonly travels near/close-to the speed limit of 70km/h.

I think you watch too much cartoons .... where all the cars will travel at a constant speed. Cars will even stop to let you filter in the cartoons ....

Everyone driving at the speed limit .... possible meh ? how to filter if all travelling at the same speed ? So buses, heavy vehicles are all travelling at the speed limit ? Most expressway are 3 lanes ... lane 3 for slow vehicles, lane 2 for cars and lane 1 for overtaking and emergency... workable ????
