Espresso Neutral Newbie March 7, 2012 Author Share March 7, 2012 Do you call your CEO in office by name or starting with Mr xxx ?? I have never addressed anyone higher in the management hierarchy with a Mr. before. Everyone, CEO or not, is addressed using their first name. And I am working in global top MNCs. So what's your point again?

Espresso Neutral Newbie March 7, 2012 Author Share March 7, 2012 Your kids call you by your name? Other kids maybe ok, but not my own kids. No way. Yup my kid call me at times by my name. But my kid also respects me a lot. I actually give permission for my kid to call me by my first name. Maybe it's only me but I am failing to see what's the big deal about that. S4vtec 3rd Gear March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 not in my household. Never was allowed by my parents and i will not allow my children to do so too... Call me old fashioned but some line must be drawn somewhere .. At least in my family , everyone acknowledges the elders at the dinner table and "invites" the elders to the meal before they can start eating. Al ot of my friends of the same age group are surprised we do this.....
Joseph22 Turbocharged March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 (edited) I dont know about you. but calling parents as dad and mum is definitely closer to calling people by name. only friends are called by name. relative older than me i called them by their status. blood relationship is thicker than friends relationship. And calling parents and daddy and mummy is a reinforcement of that close relationship. when my SiL ask me and my wife why i didnt get them to be our child God parents.. i tell them, because Ah yee are closer than Kam ma. Jamstart 1st Gear March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 One reason I can think of is you do not want to admit you are old or you are married. Maybe you should ask your kids to call you "hey bros".

Joseph22 Turbocharged March 7, 2012 Share March 7, 2012 My kid calls me dad, daddy, pa, papa and my name...depending on the mood. i think they are still young. but when they are older, and you notice they only call you by name when they are discussing serious stuff with you. then i think you will have to take note liao. cause likely they are not giving the due respect of a parents already. (my opinion only.)
