Which is what I meant, "what if the father or mother had engage the handbrake while the engine is on, the kid just pull to D mode and the car will just cheong liao". Bear in mind that today the car are not like the olden days when you have to step the clutch and let go slowly to move the car. Auto makes it more dangerous.

Yup, miss this man.....

Bro, it's not auto cancel.

When you engage D, and release the foot brake, the parking brake is still on.

Only when you step on the accelerator, then the electronic parking brake is released.

I just encounter one only yesterday which I commented that it is really stupid and useless. Can someone confirm this if it is the same in SG?

I drove my supervisor's Santa Fe to meet a client and I asked about the handbrake which is button operated. He told me push to release and pull to engage the handbrake. When he told me after you engage the gear to drive, it auto cancel the handbrake. He was so proud of the automation but I ask him what purpose does it serves.

I really wonder if this is the same in SG.

yes confirmed same. my site vehicle is a Santa Fe... totally no feel of whether got engage "handbrake" or not... at least footbrake still got feeling...

Bro, that's why don't buy Jap. They are even behind Korean in term of tech.

It is on a lot of German car. Even VW.

eh Santa Fe is Korean?

E parking brake is released when u press throttle. Not really "cancel".

I believe foot has to be on brake before engage D. Right?

yes, cannot change gear without stepping on brake.

I think that's their own maid. So quite normal la.

But I still don't understand why they let the car doors lock automatically with the keys inside. I thought most cars won't lock themselves if the key in close to the car.

i purposely tried locking my car with the fob inside, cannot lock... mayb its an older version...

if my key is in the car.. the car cannot be locked. i think most cars should have this feature

i never even engage my handbrake since many years ago.. unless you park on a slope. i think handbrake is not necessary. nonetheless now all auto handbrake..

i always engage footbrake and remind my wife to do so whenever she drives my car. better to be safe.

Anton Yelchin died being crushed by his own car...

Friday night mah, plus too much kopi after dinner just now

Last time, cars came with tools set for the owner to do simple repair at the road side, now I don't see tools in car anymore, spare tire also disappearing

Because of run flat tires or glue used to mend the hole of a puncture.

Nowadays people don't change their own tires anymore.

Car manufacturers cut cost. Unless mandated by the country to have a spare

yes there is the (0) sign but dont have the "tightening" sound whenever engage handbrake. and since the car is heavy, cant really feel the difference.

We could be the rare breed that rely on hand brake.

In fact, I make sure hand brake is engaged before shifting to P.

Nowadays, many people don't use handbrake. Yesterday and today, both valets I used did not use the footbrake when they parked.
