Need help: accident claim

Asking on behalf of a friend who had an accident. Driving his moms car and flashed/horned at another car who cut in abruptly in front. Car in front tapped break and abruptly jam them causing rear end collision. Any advice on what can be done; he didn't buy in car recorder.. Also doesn't want to private settle because the other driver is demanding to send back to Hyundai authorised dealer and inflate the costs. Thanks in advance

Rear end case with video, winning chances almost zero unless got witness.

 

In future just anticipate, even if want to horn or challenge, make sure protect yourself first.

Claiming damage is not as bad as whiplash, my friend got claim $34k from taxi driver for rear end, the taxi was barely damaged

Too bad lah, even with camera n video, the driver in front can claim he signal n changed lane.. If its 100% rearend n not corner of car, no way to fight..

Depends. My dad was involved in one accident last year. A vehicle cut in very abruptly in front of him and brake. My dad rear ended his vehicle. But my dad managed to claim fully from the other bugger.

Details? It was a chain collision on the expressway. My dad was the 2nd vehicle. A vehicle cut in front of him and braked. My dad rear ended him. Other cars behind rear ended my dad. total had 4 vehicles i think. But my dad did not have to pay a single cent for his repairs. The workshop handled everything.

The most important thing: Remind him to report to his insurer within 24 hours otherwise, he may end up having to pay for the damages himself for not reporting.

Seriously rear end case is no need fight, 99.99% lose. Unless you have evidence that he drive dangerously. Even if he jam break and u knock onto him it is mostly yr fault. Becos all motorist have to keep a minimun safe distance from the car infront. Once you tail gate be it in common road or expressway and accident happen be prepared to face the consequence.

Don't fret, about those kids calling you a noob. Unless it goes to court, under GIA guidelines, each car pays for the car ahead. If your dad didn't pay, it means that probably a combo of the front and rear drivers had to pay for him.

Fair comment and good advice for those who are fond of tailgating.

Hence, practising safe, courteous and defensive driving (i.e. be prepared to take evasive steps for such stunts by the other driver since horning and high beaming another may invite unexpected retaliation / misunderstanding) may help to avoid such incidents.

shldnt it be the car behind the other paying for the one in front?

eg 2nd pay for 1st, 3rd pay for 2nd so on..

unless it can be proven that the last driver rear ended a car which resulted in a chain collision, then different story

i think just claim insurance. case closed rather than having sleepless nights
