My friend advised me to turn on at night and not to use the auto function 'cos some of our roads are too bright causing his to turn off. The people thought he was flashing them. Worst if TP stop him.....

time for him to check his sensor

in fact too much of a good thing can be bad as it gives driver a false sense of security as technology can never replace road awareness.

to me, it all boils down to driver's awareness. how difficult is it to be aware of your surrounding & activate the light switch?

oh dun get me wrong......there is no off switch, but the option to switch ON the lights. Mentioned earlier.

ie

position 0 - neutral

position 2 - Switch on lihgt manually

position 0-Neutral means OFF?

position 1-Auto?

position 2-Manually ON.

if this is the case, then its similar to my car and i think its good.

but i know alot of cars with such features but drivers still don't use the Auto mode.

probably they prefer manually control or they don't know what the Auto switch is for.

that is the thing, no have the position 1 - AUTO....haha...but BMW still got. Merc forced it's way in. guess it is a feature they feel necessary. Position 0 - neutral, means auto lights. DRL always on though

i see,so its like compulsory to have it ON either way.

but then again, sometimes we have the need to OFF the light temporary.

Example to prevent pointing the light directly at kids who is about the same height as the headlight walking towards you.

liddat good mah...else no biz for u.

jokes aside, those cars with auto-lights build-in really wasted on drivers who disabled it.

perhaps, they shd hv a "nagging function" to remind driver say every 5secs when the surroundings are dark, check blind spot before lane change, slow down when coming to traffic lights [;)]

for that, they have the light tilting....3 positions. To shine up or down.... [laugh][laugh]

looks like they have thought of it all.

I am still thinking what are the shortcomings of this auto light haha..not used to it

However, if it becomes a mass item, costs can come down? Agree that it will be costly initially.

Thats true. And its become the case of the DRL's that Europe has mandated to be fitted as standard. LED strips are lot cheaper nowadays, probably as an effect of that.

I hate auto on lights.

Many drivers think I am flashing them when the auto light turn on momentarily while going thru short length underpass or tunnels.

Sorry, i meant adjust the 'auto off' when entering tunnel, so headlight stays on.

Yes i think it is possible to re-program or fine tune trigger setting for more local natural behaviour.

Question is, what is the brightness level of the tunnel lighting, and if all sg tunnels apply the same level.

A bit too deep to dig i guess? Hehe maybe just leave as it is ba..

I was just curious.
