I always hear passengers sit in an EV, likely they would feel dizzy and motion sickness. Anyone experience or hear that driver driving an EV also can feel dizzy and motion sickness?

My regular lunch place has 2 different charging operators at 2 different car park.

As I only use SP, need to walk 3 - 5 minutes 1 way.

Most anti-EV ppl will say so mafan🤭

My MSCP has 3 lots. But since its 3 regular HDB size lots between 2 pillars, once 2 EVs park with their charging flaps open, the 3rd is a hard squeeze. Especially when some f.kers dont center their cars properly.

Unlike our 'traditional' Jap cars which tend to be 1.7x to low 1.8x width, many Chinese EVs break into the 1.9+m, width. Even an Alphard/Veilfire is 1.8+ only.

I did. When wifey was inside. All her scoldings, naggings and rantings were amplified. At the end, came out of the car very disorientated.

So it was your wifey who give you dizziness rather than the EV itself ah?! Lol.

Yes, for me and my kid. Test drove tesla till my kid nearly puked. Then chose another marque not so bad. Initially me as driver I also feel dizzy, dunno whether cos it's due to panaromic glass roof which makes it too bright. Now I am all used to it already

I think it is the lack of engine sound that we are so conditioned to associate it with speed

we need vision, sound, G force felt by body and the vestibular system in ears to establish the sense of speed

your brain got confused without the sound

like taking a quiet high speed elevator/lift of a skyscraper

came out that time also a bit gong gong

You mean during the test drive of an EV, you feel dizzy. But after buying, you slowly get used to it and don’t feel dizzy anymore? Even for your kid?

That's why RR Spectre has to remove sound proofing.

Actually for some petrol car, also quite quiet and not much sound.

Maybe need the brain and the ears to get used to no sound EV after driving for some period?

@Koster could be due to regenerative braking, to reduce the motion sickness reduce the regen braking to minimum.

Some EV can switch off the regan braking permanently and the driving feel should be close to petrol car.

I think some people are more prone to motion sickness

i.e. my wife

she cannot read for more than 10s when the car is moving, otherwise will have headache and whole day feeling unwell

every time take plane need to pop those motion sickness pill, otherwise lim peh need to gather as many puke bags as possible once boarded

sometimes need to ask from passengers beside us

I can read book in bouncy coach/train/flight for hours without problem

I'm bit prone to motion sickness. But everyone is bit different.

I can't do anything VR. The motion sickness will come on very fast. Vehicles still not too bad but the start-stop grab/taxis will feel bit unwell.
Even playing first person shooters games also will make me feel unwell.
My wife usually quite ok with all these, but take ferry to bintan. Almost certainly will vomit/near vomiting. I only feel slightly seasick, but nowhere as bad as her.

I can spin and spin all day without any problem😁

ironically, I suffered from vertigo twice
