I'm using Hella DR 760, which was an option from the car agent. Was told it costs $3xx.

 

I've been using for a month. It's very well designed, with good UI, wifi, front and back, have parking mode, easy with microSD cards and doesn't seem to use up too much juice. I drive to work and back home on weekdays - no problem starting engine each morning. Have yet the opportunity to stretch it beyond two days.

 

A cheaper alternative which I've used many of the same model is 70Mai (a xiao mi company) - this is what I call cheap and good. It doens't have parking mode and no slave rear camera capability. It costs $4x online.

Is this hella good for Both night and day video? Not much review for this brand .. Edited by Roadhogger

My front cam died on me this morning after 4 years.

After much reading, I am down to the following brands

BlackVue

i-road

Thinkware

Any good recommendation ?

 

Also , should I buy on my own let them install or one-stop solution , buy from the shop include installation

I installed the more expensive HELLA DR820 for $399 at Eclipse Auto... same thing as iRoad V9S2. Same experience as above... clear and user friendly... especially when using the mobile app... price includes wifi dongle but not GPS dongle. Edited by teomingern

It's a German brand and made in Germany, I think.

 

I've been using it for 2 months now.  Still like every bit of it.  It seems to accept many of my existing microSD cards, and right now 128GB no problem.

 

In addition to what I said earlier, the camera is connected continuous power.  I don't bother with a power pack so when I'm away travelling, there is power switch that you can turn it off completely.  Seriously, did any one do the maths: a power packs costs couples of hundreds of dollars whereas a lead-acid battery is 1xx depending on capacity.

 

Cam VQ is fantastic (FHD), day and night.  It's got ADAS which I don't use (as my car is equipped with it).

 

I've all good things to say about DR760 and also the shape.  Other models are different shape but not necessary "higher" model.

 

Hella has a (informative) website.

 

 

Is this hella good for Both night and day video? Not much review for this brand ..

From the guy who fixed my camera... you can email Hella... mine was the latest model so there is no info about it online yet...

Well... it looks identical on the outside plus the specs are identical... the app also looks almost identical except for the logos... so I guess it's true... not particularly important to me cos the Hella cost much less than the iRoad...
