Pocus Turbocharged August 2, 2012 Share August 2, 2012 (edited) A 1.4 Roc with a 6 Speed Wet clutch DSG would be GREAT! I believe it's due to the 7DSG that limit all the 1.4 TSi's torque to 250nm. Eg. The Polo GTi's 180bhp is stunning but with only 250nm torque, that's 10nm increase...it doesn't justify the 15bhp jump from the usual 160bhp. If you look that Japanese turbo cars, a jump or 15bhp would double the torque increase by at least 30nm! Torque is always easier to increase than bhp in a FIed car. So confirm VW knows their 7DSG cannot handle the torque and limit the torque curve. Edited August 2, 2012 by Pocus
ER-3682 Supersonic August 2, 2012 Share August 2, 2012 vw proply tried too hard to fit 7 sp into a small GB....failed The problem lies with the "Dry" clutch, not the gearbox problem.
Elmo 4th Gear August 2, 2012 Share August 2, 2012 The problem lies with the "Dry" clutch, not the gearbox problem. Also read somewhere it is the 'mechatronic' thingy - which is like a controller for the gear changing, giving the problems. Beautiful car though. If the design hadn't been this good it's sales would have been tanked by this DSG issue.
Lucaswh 1st Gear August 2, 2012 Share August 2, 2012 no matter how quick and efficient the car is, i just can't live with the fact that the car will just stall any time and because of a known clutch issue. a real pity.

The car is nice but too bad its really unreliable..... I would prefer a manual version though.

Beautiful car though. If the design hadn't been this good it's sales would have been tanked by this DSG issue. Well, sales are good because those who buy didn't know about the DSG problem....... You can see the number of roc 1.4 on sale in sgcarmart is really staggering....This shows how many pple trying to get rid of the car. No matter how nice a car looks, its ultimately the reliability that matters. If you have a car that keep giving you problem, you will get pissed no matter how nice the car it. Expertz 1st Gear August 2, 2012 Share August 2, 2012 anybody care to explain what does gearbox juddering mean? the gearbox frequently changes between gears? if so then its not a problem isn't it? just tap on the accelerator and let it change up! You ever driven a manual car? Have you ever half-clutched to the point that the gearbox vibrate and you have to either press the accelerator more else the whole car will die? Think that's the "juddering effect" that most vw folks are refering to.

Think that's the "juddering effect" that most vw folks are refering to. well then the car doesn't die right? i'm assuming the effect will be gone within a few seconds and there won't be any damage to the engine or gearbox? so actually its an annoyance not a problem? i mean if i don't mind this happening once here and there then owning a VW wouldn't be a problem for me? or would the gearbox eventually fail and cost 5k to repair? Elmo 4th Gear August 2, 2012 Share August 2, 2012 i dun really understand why you meant the used car sales is really staggering...lol Think he meant there's lots of it in the resale market. Probably more than other models. And that means a lot trying to sell but no takers. I was tempted to get the 2.0 version though. But most would advise me to just go for GTI.
