Life can be as simple as you want it to be

it is the ego and desires that make your life more difficult

and many cannot overcome their ego and desires

Living in a non materialistic world, I salute to them. This article will make many families shame of themselves. Most importantly, they are happy what they have.

resilient, tough, strong...just like our ancestors and forefathers who fought the war

can withstand hardships, starvation, poverty. Not afraid to die, with a fearless attitude.

Willing to lead a content and ordinary life

Not at all tempted by cars, branded stuffs

I respect this family

the ministers should learn from them

This kind of article sometimes does make people ponder a lot.

I got a friend whose been working for the last 15 years and her take home pay is about $2000 monthly after CPF deduction. She is single with no committment required for family. Strangely, she always lament 2k per month take home is causing her financial hardships and quite often she has to borrow in sums of $50-100 from friends about 5-7 days before her pay day to tide over that period where she has no savings from the bank to withdraw from until her pay gets credited.

She doesn't buy branded stuff, don't drive and doesn't have much nightlife and yet she seems always barely surviving with that pay. Although she does incur a regualr medical expense of about $200 per month on avg but that is just 10% of her take home and shoudn't be causing her hardships. Always wonder why esp when one see an article that a person earning 1.8k after take home can bring up a family of 8 but for her case, 2K is not even sufficient for herself. We always talk about this and I help her to analyse and from the breakdowns it appears there should be enough for her to live fairly ok but somehow the situation is always the opposite. [rolleyes][rolleyes]

your friend is confirm paying for some debts you are not aware of....either for herself or for someone else.

anything is possible if you put your mind to it . But this one caught my eye.

- Saved for 3 yrs to go Genting for 3D2N

It means they take 3 years to save about 1k ( i assume 100 x 5 for weekend package and 500 SGD spending money )

That is very risky if the father is uninsured. The financial pinch will come when the children is about to enter tertiary institutions or serve national service. That is when they will sign on to the forces....

Life is how you want it, home is where you make it. Why do you guys doubt the family story? You can't get by with $1800 a month doesn't mean they can't.

If they can get by with life simply, we should be happy for them. They are not as materalistic as some people, which is good. Some people have all the materalistic things but are living alone with no family. That's happiness?

Depend on how you look at it I guess.

Don't know how true but I do hear of some so call low income people are actually quite cash rich. They are able to get help from many associations and alot of their income actually remains untouched. But seriously, I admire this family's guts.

Actually I'm rather impress that with all these constraints, he still manage to save some monies. Some youngster who has bigger spending power end up with no saving at the end of the month.

Last time our parents also living on borderline. We don't even get to tour to genting. Spent most of my childhood without stepping out of singapore.
