honda civic 1.8 2007. default is to use 5w-30, cos almost everyone is using that. not bad, nothing fantastic to talk abt - not good not bad. at that time, car engine also new, so a bit rough (engine block fresh cut from factory) is to be expected.

after a year or two, i discover my colleague, due to save petrol, uses 5w-20. i think why not, so use.

wow. much better. smooth.

people say, as cars get older, use thicker oil, like 5w-40 or 5w-50 as gaps in engine grow.

bec of this, every now and then, i switch back to 5w-30. yucks. next round, i go back to 5w-20. shiok.

i use redline since day 1. everyone say motul is better, but i doubt it is worth the cost difference. my 2 cents.

I have been using 0w20, 5w20, 5w30 on current car since day one. Last oil change at 69000km, I used 0w20.. So far no engine oil consumption problem. My manual spec specifies 5w30 as minimum though. The car is a 1.5l japanese non turbo car.

Just to state, for the previous w20 oil, they are Redline, Amsoil and current 0w20 is Renewable Lube. I didn't use Motul or Mobil.

what car u driving? consult yr driver manual to see if 5w-20 is suitable

if yr car got forced induction, then 5w-20 is too thin. If NA, still ok ^_^
