Octopus card can be used for almost anything in HK. You even can use it to buy food and things at some eatery and convenience store.

 

Seems like the air in HK now looks bad! Now is typhoon season lo, so it is expected to have typhoon if you go to HK at this period.

On my previous many trips to HK, I have encountered typhoons and experienced the inconvenience and stress it could cost travellers. Now I try at all cost to avoid traveling to HK during typhoon season if ever possible.

 

Oct to Dec might be an ideal time to go there since it's cooler too.
