Why is Lexus overpriced?

One of the reasons for the car being expensive is the high OMV. E.g. GS is packed with all the bells and whistles and that pushes the OMV up. If you include these options when you customize a BMW or Merc, the cost of the car would be much higher than the basic advertised price.

If you look at the mark up by the other premier brands, you can see Lexus is actually priced very competitively.

Cannot totally agree. Its not the best of title, but his point of an equalivent Lexus being more expensive than a Beemer and Merc is a valid question.

Its is up for debate if they can justify the price. If they can justify the price, & customers are sold on the offer, then all is well, but if not, & sales are not good, then they may have to do some thinking. I have no data but you get my point.

Fair point [:)]

then help me ask y lta classify it under toyota and not lexus itself?

Can you ask LTA to classify VW as Audi and BMW as RR? Lexus is a division under Toyota Motor Corp while the angmos like to keep their brands under different legal entities. I thought it is the brand and product that matters, who cares about how they organize themselves.

Nowadays suv is for city driving one and when u drive it has the sedan feel as well. Big boot space is the main point, put ur groceries or ikea furnitures, hooola!!! All in

Do note that dont use RX for off road, they wont make it with fwd

Sedan feel, thats the last thing i will describe a RX. I've drive a couple of Lexus, all setup for comfort, but the RX stood out among the rest feeling very very odd.

Soft suspension coupled with high C.G. was a disaster, that thing dive, squat and rolls much more than all other Lexus.

Thanks for sharing. I have driven the old GS before but not the X3, generally I dislike SUV or MPV due to their high CG, must corner like an Ah Pek (relative to a sport sedan)... but driving comfort is good, but drive long distance without much body aches.

You dumping your RX?

Not dumping haha, sold away cos backside itchy. Its still a great car to own. Next rx gen i will consider to get again

The meaning sedan feel is the smooth drive, gliding like a sedan and accelerate like a sedan. But in corner really cmi the RX

The Japanese has yet to master the black art of suspension, especially softly sprung suspension, yet able to corner without drama.
