Good decision to source from outside.

 

I am thinking to terminate the AIG from BM and get on my own from outside after collecting my car. Dun know whether is it feasible or not.

 

My colleague told me BM is a approved reporting centre for AIG.  If in the future,  you are not going back there for claims related issues or going back there for claims related issues but time is not critical,   that could be a feasible move.

Anyone use the Altis windscreen sun shade?  Not sure if it is good.

Or any ordinary sun shade will do.

 

Do you connect your camera to the cigarette port or directly to car battery? 

 

 

The one that can be bought from BM ?   

I ordered.  After waiting for a long time.  I cancelled.  

 

My camera connects to the cigarette port.  I figured it will be a hassle to setup the sunshade.

I "delay" for slightly more than 2 wks.  I guess it is not right to delay so long because I trade-in my car and I believe they will re-sell the car or for whatever use.  The longer I hold onto my car, the party getting my car will lose more.

update on my insurance search, managed to get cheap prices with Etiqa and AXA as well (slightly better than Aviva).

a savings of S$700 after factoring the discount by AIG and such. 

 

Registered my car and getting it next week! Earlier than expected~ 

Time to source around for some little accessories to add on.

You can delay for quite some time. I delayed mine for 2 months. The trader already factor the consideration in the pricing. However, your car may be without shelter for a long time as it sits in West Coast port.

Borneo Motor tie up with AIG for first year complete loss cover. If you get your own insurance, this won't be covered.

You can delay for quite some time. I delayed mine for 2 months. The trader already factor the consideration in the pricing. However, your car may be without shelter for a long time as it sits in West Coast port.

Regarding the Insurance, thats not true. Complete loss cover means New for Old (if im not wrong). It is covered by alot of other insurance as well, including Aviva and Etiqa which I got my quotes from. Only for the first year.

If you got the COE and there is ex-stock, I think it should be within 2 weeks  or so

I got my Toyota Altis this May. Almost every 1.5 months, upon turning on the air con, it will emit about 2 seconds of foul smell. Going back to BM again.

 

Anyone encountered such issue?

I have been driving my wish for nearly 1 month, everytime I turn on the air-con, esp in the morning, there is stale smell for a few sec before it goes away.  i attribute it to the stale air that has been 'stuck' in the car as it is parked over-night.  once the stale air is cleared and fresh air starts coming in, the smell is normal.

I dont use air freshener. My previous cars don't have such issue. Seems to be the quality of air nowadays have dropped.

when did you get your car? When I was at the showroom, one of the SE was discussing with a potential buyer about this, and he mentioned something like there was a batch with some aircon smelling bad. Maybe it is a known issue, try get BM to rectify it.

I got my car end May. They did charocoal baking for me but didn't solve the issue. Thereafter they changed evaporator coil for me plus air con filter and the smell went off.

 

After 1 month plus, the smell came back again! If they are going to do the same old procedure again, it will come back after 1 month plus again. This cycle will continue until warranty end and they BM will hand off.

 

What can they do now? Any recommendation from your SE?

 

The car quality is lousy nowadays. My previous cars, 10 years, not such problem!

Oh it was not my SE. I overheard the conversation from another buyer & SE when I was inside the show room car with them. The potential buyer was asking him about this known issue so I stayed and eavesdrop.  

 

I only heard that the SE say it was the coolant(I suppose refrigerant) problem and they have rectified it since. Maybe you can ask them about the refrigerant? 

To wait till warranty end.. thats like 3 years..

Free servicing lasted for 1 year. After a year, be it, if you were to service workshop outside or in BM, there still a possibility that they pin point this problem to "wear" and "tear" or life time of the consumable items.

 

The cost may be passed to me.

Sound bad. Did you bang table to the supervisor/manager/director/ceo of BM?

 

Or alternative, tell them you will go social media and broadcast to whole world.
